Looking for my first atv?

Hey everyone I'm looking for my first ATV. As I'm still fairly young I don't want something that will cut a hole through my wallet. I'm perfectly fine with used. What I would mostly be riding is just off road trails. Sometimes they are in bad shape so I want something that can handle terrain with power. Also probably will be doing some winter riding here in Canada so there might be some snow. We also plan to do some ice riding down this river that is near us. I hope this is enough info, I've been looking at some hondas and yamahas and kawasaki. I have no clue which ones are good. I plan to go ride a lot. So something that will last. Thanks.

Added (1). I've noticed that you could get a used yamaha kodiak 450 for a decent price depending on the year and I've heard those held up nicely and aren't too outrageous for a first orv

If you're just starting you will want a 4 stroke, probably 150-250 to start off probably like an early 90s or late 80s Yamaha 250, I found 1 on Craigslist in good condition and running for 450$$ I'd go for a raptor 250, thEy are more strong and reliable. Remember you usually get what you pay for

250-400cc 4 stroke from Japan. Stay away from the Chinese junk. They fall apart quickly.

  • Why does my atv pull to the right? My Honda TRX250x 2013 pulls to the right. It doesn't really do it when i drive but i do a lot of wheelies when ever i have the 2 front tires up it slowly leans towards the right. Just wanna know why and if i cn fix it its very annoying when your on the road wheeling but the quad veers off to side. I've heard the tire pressure could be the reason? Please drop a comment really wanna get this fixed thanks for your time
  • Weird whistling noise coming from my ATV engine? So i have a honda 250ex, and today whenever i would give it gas, i would here a strange whistling noise coming from the cylinder block in the engine. When in neutral the sound was not heard. I never heard this sound before and it made me a little nervous. Just wondering if there's a problem with it or if i need to replace something.
  • Will a Atv rear shock work on a motorcycle as a rear shock? So I have a 1984 Honda vf700s, which has a shot 17.5" rear shock. I found this shock http://www.ebay.com/...1405356646 and I love the red spring i'm just curious if it would serve well as a bike shock. And If so would it be suitable in terms of riding.
  • Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
