1972 HONDA MOTORCYCLE COMPRESSION PROBLEM?
I'm looking to buy a 1972 Honda CL350 and it has low compression…60psi in the left and none in the right. The guy I'm purchasing from said he was in the process of a rebuild and replaced the piston rings and seals. He said he purchased it running but it has not run in about 2-3 years. What could be causing the low compression? I realize it could be multiple things but what would be a ballpark figure be $$$-wise to fix?
You probably have an intake or exhaust valve hung open if there's no compression at all.
Easy fix.
He should give it to your for free considering the valve job you will have to have done on it.
Don't pay more than a couple hundred. Unless the tins and pipes are pristine, it isn't worth much with a toasted engine. What size is the current bore and what size pistons/rings did he buy?
Likely will need bore/hone, new valve guides, oil seals, whole you are at it, inspect oil pump and toss in a fresh cam chain and tensioner if the wheels are falling apart
Are you sure you want to buy a 42 year old bike? Parts can be tough to find (and a bike that old WILL need parts) and unless you can do the work yourself it's going to very expensive.
- Wanted: gas tank for a 1972 Honda XL250? I've searched online for hours and can't find a tank. If anyone has any leads on where to find one, or where to look, I would sure appreciate the help.
- If I made a few mods to the frame of a 1972 Honda z50, can I classify it as a moped? The 1972 honda z50 came with a vin. So it had to be street legal. In Michigan the engine has to be under 100cc, automatic engine and not go over 30 mph to be a moped. I have seen some mods that people have done to the frame but I just wanted to make sure
- I have a 99 honda civic si I did a compression test and suspect it has low compression because of misfire? So the first one came out as.180. Second one 180… Third piston 160… And the last final piston as…180 are my pistons good? Don't mean to sound like a rookie.
- Car compression issues valve 3 and 4? I took my 2000 Honda Accord to a mechanic and they called back asking when the timing belt was changed and I said I don't know because I bought it as a used car recently and they said it could be a blown head gasket because they did a compression test and valve 3 and 4 ( or there were issues when switching from gear three to four )have issues. I don't really speak car so can someone explain what are valves, how does this all correlate.
