83 honda magna won't crank?

New batery. When i turn the key the lights come on. With the kickstand up and clutch in and the bike in neutral, when i push the start button my lights dim but there's no sound.

The nutral light is coming on.
I already tried bypassing the clutch sensor and i don't think the kickstand has a sensor. The batery is charged and when i jump it with my cars batery it has the same problem.

Check the fuel tap, it could be switched of, maybe that is it or the bike ran out of fuel, to check the simplest first before taking the engine appart.

when there's no crank up at all, then there's no spark, possible the cable of the spark plug got loose, it should be tightend, or the spark plug is worn out and needs to be renewed.

Sounds like your starter is kaput. Have you tried push starting?

Ever think its the starter motor thats the problem

Get a test light. Put bike in neutral. Put key to ON or Run. Do you have power in the dash? Yes, have a friend try to start while you test for power in the starter with the test light (put end of cord to battery negative and put pointed end on the power terminal of starter). If test light lights up and no crank, test for ground on starter (put end of cord on battery + and touch pointed end on ground terminal of starter. If the test light lights up, the starter is dead. Or you can remove the terminals of starter and wire it directly to battery.

If the test light does not light up testing power on starter, check the start button, the kill switch (if there's one), the fuses and fuse terminals, the ignition switch and the start relay.

Bad starter or seized engine.
