Are motorbike tank covers worth getting?
I really like the look of tank covers and they look practical if I want to add a bag and lug gear.
the bike I have is an upright tourier and is mostly black except the tank which comes silver as standard.
the tank is scratched up so I was thinking either a black tank cover or a black used tank or maybe even a paint job but I would need the bike ready in a day.
my worry with the cover is will it last and how bad is it in direct sunshine as I assume it heats up unlike a metal tank which would remove the heat more.
how much would a tank cost to be painted?
the bike is a Honda varadero 125cc
The main reason for them is to fit bags as you say. But have you got a lockable Top Box as most Tank Bags just Un-Clip. I used to have a Double Helmet Top Box to hold a Helmet and Wet Weather Gear.

They're pretty good to have, stop stone chips occurring and also stop your jacket zip from marking the tank etc. However, if your tank is already in need of some repair, then I'm not sure if it's worth having one. Perhaps better if you want to protect a freshly painted or refurbished tank. Not sure about how they react to heat, but I know in sunlight even a fuel tank gets hot.
- What is the the difference between a resin tank long and a resin tank short? For a 2001 honda passport? What is the the difference between a resin tank long and a resin tank short? For a 2001 honda passport 2wd? What are the measurements for each thank you
- Why is my Honda CB250 motorbike spewing out so much smoke? When I run my bike it gives off a lot of smoke when riding and at the lights. As far as I can tell it runs fine, but just smokes a lot. It was so bad tonight that the taxi behind me was pretty much engulfed by smoke, so much so I was worried if he could see the road properly or not. I of tern take it on longish distances (over an hour of riding at about 90ks an hour (56 miles. Could that have damaged it ( I know its not exactly designed for that)
- Which Scooter should I get as my first ever motorbike? I will definitely buy the Honda Activa. No I'm confused between the 3 varients available in India. The Simple Activa, The Activa i & the Activa 125cc. My ride will be around 22kms daily through a mixture of bad & very bad roads. Also I'm a first time rider, means I will learn on this vehicle too. I'm proficient in bicycling. Please advice.
- Which Motorbike should I get? I'm planning to get a motorbike next year to get to school every weekday and to commute a bit. I'm thinking of buying either a Yamaha YZF R15, Honda CBR250R or a Kawasaki Ninja 300. Which one would be best for me? I'm about 1.7m tall 15 years old 16 next year.
