Why is my Honda CB250 motorbike spewing out so much smoke?
When I run my bike it gives off a lot of smoke when riding and at the lights. As far as I can tell it runs fine, but just smokes a lot. It was so bad tonight that the taxi behind me was pretty much engulfed by smoke, so much so I was worried if he could see the road properly or not. I of tern take it on longish distances (over an hour of riding at about 90ks an hour (56 miles. Could that have damaged it ( I know its not exactly designed for that)
Check your oil level, if it's low your burning oil, take it to a bike garage and et them to sort it out or sell it depending how much the bike was when you brought it
Smoke… I'd say you are burning oil… And your rings are shot… But that's just a guess.
- Why do motorbike brake shoes have springs that snap them shut? . When the brake is released? I've taken them off the rear drum brake of my Honda 250 scooter and the brake is much more powerful as I'm not wasting effort overcoming the inertia of the springs. What a silly invention in the first place!
- Motorbike losing power, why? It's only done 6,500 miles, its a 125 Honda cg, it's only a spare run about bike of mine but it shouldn't be losing power! Got enough clean oil and full tank too (not like petrol should have anything to do with it) Breaks aren't touching ect why is this?
- Motorbike bogs down and cuts out at full throttle? I have a gilera cougar 125 (Honda engine), when are full throttle it bogs down and can cause it to cut out. It runs fine otherwise and it's not making any stage sounds or anything.
- Mechanic said he rebuilt the engine, smoke coming out of engine, could it be the grease burning off? The mechanic said he rebuilt the engine to my 1974 Honda CB550 I bought from him. Said he rebuilt the engine and is in perfect running condition. He has many bikes lying around and seems as if he is a hobbyist for bikes. He told me that he basically greased up a lot of parts of the motor and it is burning the grease off. The next oil change I do should remove the excess grease.
