Can I get a motorcycle PERMIT if I'm already 18 years old?

This is kind of a silly question, yes, since I could obviously just go take a Rider's Beginner Course and get my license right off the bat. However, this has to do with me being impatient.

My 19th birthday is June 14th, and I just got a new 2014 Honda CBR250R Repsol Edition and I really wanna drive it around legally saturday on my birthday! Classes are full until a few months past now…

I know I can get my license directly at 18, but can I just get a permit? I believe a permit would allow me to ride it around during the daytime without passengers, which is all I'm really wanting for the moment. I rode a dirt bike for a while, so driving a vehicle on two wheels isn't much new to me… For some reason I have the belief that the DMV may not allow me to get a permit anymore because I'm 18 years old.

You sure can.

Anyone, any age, can get a permit if they pass the written test.
The written test is to prove you know the rules of the road.
A permit gives permission (the holder is permitted) to practice riding/driving before getting fully licensed.

The vehicle being used has to be registered, inspected and fully insured.

Yes I'm pretty sure that you could just get a permit.
my sister got a permit at 23

In the State of Confusion- you can't get a permit if you're over the age of 16. In the State of Delusion, you don't need a permit at age 17 since you automaticaly get a license then. In other states of US, you check the states DOT/DMV or ask the local police. In the UK? You have so many silly laws that it is now hard to tell- but might be able to get a 125cc model now- hard telling with the British age and size, power rules changes. In Wisconsin a adult with a basic drivers license can take the written rules of road test and get a motorcycle learners permit issued the same day if they pass- that is what my adult students do/did. Brings up a minor point- you do already have a basic drivers license for a car? Seems like Census figures show about 25% of 16 to 21 year olds DON'T have a drivers license- and I know of couple of high school grads locally that don't have a basic license at 18 yet- one is wanting some basic lessons end of this month for car. Local laws say can get the license at 16 IF takes the state approved driving school that costs $350.00 to $400.00 and a fair percentage seem to use the money instead for silly games when they live in the cities- they wait until 18 when don't need to spend the money for the driving school, can be taught to drive by parents or other non state licensed instructors.

Depends what state you are in. In California, if you already have your driver's license you could go take a written test and get your permit.
