Choke not engaging in Honda Rebel 450?

I have an 86 Honda Rebel 450. Bike runs great however the choke switch does not engage at all. I can start the bike ifif I manually pull the choke up on the carbs, but the choke switch does nothing at all. Any idea what to do?

Don't know that bike exactly but if the choke switch/lever is cable operated than the cable needs to be replaced or adjusted for tension on it.

  • My 2008 Honda Rebel will not go in neutral? I have a 2008 Honda Rebel that will not go in neutral while its running. It will only go into neutral if I shut it off. I took it to the local shop and they adjusted the clutch cable and gear lever with no success.
  • Should I get an 87 Honda rebel for 1500 or a 15 Honda rebel for 4100? Both will have same insurance rate. I know the older one will have more problems to fix but is cheaper up front while the newer one cost more now but will have less problems in the future. Also in case you are wondering the 87 is a 450cc and the 15 is a 234cc.
  • Motorcycle choke not working? My choke stopped working on my 86 Honda rebel 450. Someone was messing with it the other day and found out that if you tug one of the cables, the choke on the carb opens up and is the same thing as applying the choke the regular way. The problem is, i can't figure out what he was doing and how he go the chok to open up. Any ideas what he could have done?
  • KTM 450 EXC 2016 Street Legal? The KTM 450 EXC 2016 is one sexy bike, no doubt. But, even though it says Enduro, I do not see turn signals or mirrors. My dad wants to get this bike over the honda crf 250l. But he wants to see if it is street legal for CA. I just want to see if this bike can be made street legal. Yay or nae?
