Good 125cc beginner bikes?

I'm taking my CBT soon and after gonna get a 125cc geared bike. I've been looking at the Lexmoto xtrs but read some pretty mixed reviews about it being Chinese and its reliability. Also been looking at the Honda CBR but it's abit out of my price range. Also been looking at gumtree and eBay for second hand bikes but not really having much luck. So my question is, does anyone know any bikes (new or second hand) that are good for beginners, reliable and not to expensive? I understand I may have to splash out abit for a bike with all these qualitys but yeah, aswel, are there any websites I can look at that sell decent bikes for a decent price?

Any Japanese or European 125 will be fine. As you already know, the cheap, poorly made and unreliable Chinese bikes should be avoided.

Without knowing your budget, it's really difficult to recommend any specific bikes, but the Honda CG-125, Honda CBF-125, Suzuki GS-125, Suzuki DR-125 and Yamaha YBR-125 are all worth consideration.

Buy a second hand japanese bike, they are so much better than chinese one, good luck

  • Would a 125cc 4 stroke scooter be able to keep up with a 125cc sports bike? I'm thinking of getting a Sym Jet 4 125cc, and my friend rides a Honda CBR 125, we re riding about 3 hours down to the Bulldog Bash, would my scooter be powerful enough to keep up with him? And cruise comfortably at about 60mph? Long and short. How much of an advantage/disadvantage are gears when it comes to acceleration and speed.
  • What is a good beginner bike for a big guy? What would be a good touring, cruiser type starter bike for a big guy. I'm a 400 pound guy and am looking for a great starter/cruiser bike. I have looked at a honda shadow 650, or a vulcan 800, but am unsure of how powerful they actually are and if i can even handle it.
