Honda CRF250R Key Ignition?

**Please read**
This motorcycle will not be used for motorcross purposes. It will used in trails and in the streets of another country. The street legal requirements of the country are poor, so if it runs and have paperwok, your fine.

I plan on buying a Honda CRF250R 2008 soon, and I was wondering if I can install a keyed igniton. Also a headlight in the future. I want to install the ked ignition because I don't want anyone just go up to it and stealing it. I know the 250x has headlight but not interested in it. Any help?

Let me start of with nothing is going to be plug and play. That being said you don't have to re-invent the wheel for the key. The simpilist way is to pull the tank trace the killswitch wire back and run it inline with the keyed ignition. Then mount it where ever up buy the bars under the seat etc. If you are saying that is to easy someone will steal it. Yea well look up factory motorcycles sometimes other than adding more wires you can always how wire them for the most part. The light isn't a super big deal but you will need a lighting stator to power it. Or don't. But if you don't your bike will start dyeing for no reason and no matter how bright of a bulb you put in your light will be dim.

The always-true answer is that anything can be engineered with enough time and money. You can wire a key switch into the kill-switch circuit to disable the bike. Looks like that bike is kickstart-only, so it may only have have a magneto, no battery, and no alternator. You need an alternator and a battery to run lights, dude. Look at the bike's alternator output spec, assuming it has an alternator, and make sure you don't exceed it. Look at the new LED lights because they use less power. Me… I would get something street-legal to start with so as not to have to reinvent the wheel, or the battery, or the alternator.
