Honda V65 Sabre As First Bike?

I'm 16, 5'6 and 140lbs. And want to get a Honda V65 Sabre 1100 as my first bike.
Is this a smart idea? A lot of people say that's a nasty bike (meaning: FAST)

You might wanna try the v45. Its just like the 65 but the engine is smaller and its a little slower. I don't think the 65 is a good first bike. I got a v45 at age 26 and had 16 years of riding bikes and it was fast and give a smooth ride. I even took it from N.J. To Fla and back. Another thing is your weight. A 65 with your weight is VERY dangerous… A 600cc would be a better starter bike good luck

The accepted rule is to stay under a liter for a first bike. This is due to skill level concerns. On the street the best rider is the safest rider. Not till you go to the track does fast make a better rider.

It is very heavy and unstable at slow speeds.
Definitely not a learner bike.

Try laying it down on the ground and then picking it back up onto its tires all by yourself. If you can't, it is too big and heavy for you.

Would you jump in to a funny car just because you just got your license?

Many countries have strict rules about size & power of a first bike. There's a VERY good reason for this. Google LAM motorcycles & choose from the list. At your size & weight I'd go for nothing larger than the Ninja 300. This is capable of doubling the speed limits, leaving all but 0.01% of cars behind from a standing start, has an excellent rep for reliability & resale value. Buy a second hand one (or a similar bike). Ride it for 2 years minimum before you consider upsizing. You will drop it during the first 12 months guaranteed & better than 50% chance of visiting a hospital (not kidding)
