I'm getting a new bike but I can't decide between a Honda crf250r and Yamaha 250 yz?

In my opinion go for Honda 250.

Hi so the yamaha is a two stroke and the Honda is a sports four stroke the main difference for a rider comes in when braking the four stroke has engine braking which has to be a bonus when doing some slower movements over logs and in tight corners slowly.
the two stroke may slightly quicker away as it beats twice as fast.
so it comes down to personal choice of what you want actually.
off road trails would be best with a four stroke. Fast get away and speed around a scrambles circuit a two stroke engine might just be a bit faster.

Either one should make you happy.
I ride/race Yamaha, have since 1974, have a YZ 450F and quite happy.

The YZ is a 2 stroke, while the CRF is a 4 stroke.

The 4 stroke will have near instant power, all the way through the rev range. The YZ will only have good power up at high RPM's; its power-band. The Honda will require less maintenance, and benefit from improved reliability. The Yamaha will provide more fun (In my opinion) but will require more maintenance, and the engine won't last as long (It will need re-building earlier than the CRF's). I'd always choose a 2 stroke of the same CC, as I find them more fun. However, the 4 stroke has a few more benefits and are more generally user friendly as the power is more predictable. What ever you choose, both are good options.

None, you said your 17 so it's a 125cc for you on completion of your CBT.

Your mum if failing making her son worthy

You would have to be on private ground with no public to be able to drive off road. If you go on any public area then your breaking the law.

  • Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
  • Trouble deciding between Honda Vision 110 and Yamaha D'elight 125? I'm trying to decide which to buy between the Honda Vision 110 or Yamaha D elight 125… I've sat on both bikes. I've found the Yamaha to be more comfortable to sit on, and has more storage space under the seat, but the Honda apparently does more mpg, and I slightly prefer it style-wise. Which would you choose?
  • I'm trying to decide which bike to get between a 2007 gsxr600 or 2006 CBR600? I've been riding a ninja 250 for about 6 months now and am selling it in the next week or so to get a bigger bike. Both of these bikes are from private owners. The gsxr has 17k miles vs the honda having 25k. Both bikes are well taken care of. But i can't really decide on which to get. Any opinions would be helpfull
  • Crf250r dirt bike Honda? I rode dirt bikes for awhile. I own a older 250 2 stroke but it's always breaking. Very fast bike but I want something reliable. I used to own a crf100 and it always ran and never gave me problems. So I wanna go back to crf. How reliable is the crf250r. Looking for 250 4 strokes.
