Is a Kawasaki Ninja the best sport bike?

I'm almost 15 and 1/2 right now, and want a street bike. Since I can get my motorcycle permit soon, I'd like to start looking into a bike. I'm going take a motorcycle riding course, so I can get experience with a street bike and use it to skip the riding course when I take my permit test. I'm not going to be an idiot that rides on the highway at 90mph and do wheelies, I DESPISE that, because those guys end or ruin their (usually young) lives, and other people can be hurt or killed! I also would ride with my dad, who'd get a Honda Shadow. (It's required you have 40 hours of riding time with someone with a class M license before I can get one) (and yes, I want a sport bike instead of a cruiser. They're lighter and easier to handle.) So I would definitely take it slow, and probably not even ride on the highway, because the bike I want is too light, and it's dangerous. I want a Kawasaki Ninja 300abs. I want a 300 instead of a 250 because of the smoother clutch, and other upgrades from the 250, with not crazy power for a beginner. I've heard great things about the Ninjas, and love their features and looks, so I have only really done research on the Ninjas. I've had Honda dirtbikes for years, and loved them, so I don't really like Kawasaki over the others for the brand. So my question is are the other bikes around the 250cc size (Honda, Yamaha, & Suzuki), just as good/better than the Ninjas? And if so, which bike(s) should I also look into? (I'd also try to get a used one) Thanks!

Compare a Ninja 300abs versus a Suzuki S40 -- http://www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusiasts/new_vehicle_compare.asp?vehicle1=378196&year2=2014&mfg2=4&vehicle2=384423&go=Go
Weight -- Curb: 383.7 lbs. --381 lbs.

The 650 single cylinder cruiser is *lighter* than the sport bike.

You are a new rider, young, the insurance will kill you. Progressive had a list of crashed bikes -- the Ninja is in the top 5 most crashed, the Savage (now called S40) is the least crashed bike.

Sport bikes are all about speed, high speed. Even the little 300 can do 100 mph. But that is only at high speed. You want to be "not going to be an idiot" and will be mostly on city streets. Guess what? The Big Single rules the street. When the traffic signal goes green all the sport bike, even liter bikes, will be looking at the back of the "Cruiser". Not fast, but very quick off the line.

Whatever. You want "sport" bike 'cause sport bike look cool. Fine… The Honda's 250R is $1K less to buy, 25 pounds lighter, quicker off the line, can still do 85+ mph.

Get what you like… For what you are riding. All the major manufacturers make a decent bike

I'm a ninja guy so id say ninjas are tge best. But htere is also the honda ones. Those bykes are sone rlly good bikes as well. But when you take the course get the feeling of the power. Cuz you might want to upgrade to soon specially if yoh already have some riding skill. I would prefer to get a 600cc because they are like the best size for riding on the streets and freeway.
