IS there anyway I can get my vin back on my dirt bike by using the engine vin?
I never had paperwork for this dirt bike it was stolen from me and recovered but the vin was grinded off! I have my engine vin Can I contact honda and see if I can get it back?
A) The engine serial number is not a VIN number.
b) You should have a title for the bike. The VIN will be listed on there or the registration if you had it registered.
c) It is unlikely Honda would know what engine serial number went on that bike frame,
d) Even if they did have that info there's no way to prove that engine originally went with the frame you have.
Depends some on ACTUAL bike, make, model- Honda Dirt bike? What else? Depending on year, many VIN were the model code, country source and last number were engine numbers- so you MIGHT have last 1/2 of original VIN. Others were frame number completely different than engine numbers. Not likely to have a title unless dual sport or a state that required title even for offroad- maybe California? Locally dirt bikes don't have titles or registration from DOT- it is DNR that does inspection for spark arrestor, safety switch and issues sticker for use on state trails that is used as bill of sale, has engine numbers, frame numbers noted. DNR sticker needed for state and federal trails-- but not needed for race track use or private property. Honda MIGHT have record of warrantee card IF purchaser recorded it or dealer had record copy sent to Honda USA.

- Running a VIN check on a dirt bike in Australia? So I was considering running a VIN check on my dirt bike, which is a 00' Honda Cr250 (un-registerable). I'm in Australia and I'm not sure where to go to get this check done as this bike would not have any registration history. Ideas? Help? - Motorcycle Vin Short, how to clear vin check? I have a 1977 Honda and the vin is not 17 digits due to it being pre 1981 so it won't clear a vin check. Any way around this?
- Is there anyway to add a motercycle compartment to a volkswagen van? I'm planning a cross country trip in the future with a '73 Volkswagen van. It runs well but I wouldn't want to take it on rough roads so I was thinking about taking my bike with me on the road. It's a 2003 Honda rebel, 250cc. I was wondering if there was anything I could add to my van so I could take my bike with me. Anything helps, thanks.
