Motorcycle dealer does not want to negotiate? Should I pass?
Trying to buy a 2015 honda pcx150.
I've called 2 dealers who both only want me to pay full MSRP + TTL + Fees.
Why are they so reluctant to negotiate?
I'm a cash buyer. What is their problem? Should I just pass and maybe wait until the winter starts to hit and maybe then they would be more willing to negotiate?
They don't care about winter if its a current year model. If you won't buy it someone else will. And 'cash buyer' is highly blown out of proportion. If they see you have cash, they are going to try to get it all, you would likely get a slightly lower price if they see you cooling off on a finance deal. Yeah people talk alot of trash about playing dealers down, but thats their business. Chances are you arnt going to win lol. What will work though is getting last years model for alot less, then if it still sits for several months you may make an offer and they might bite, like for instance 'i'll give you this sticker amount if its an out the door price' .
Most will not negotiate over the phone. Find a dealer different than the two you have talked to and go there in person.
Buy a 2014 model.
You can't force dealers to negotiate, if they have a model that is selling well then they will not budge.
But if you were in the dealership with cash on the table, even though they still want the full price, they might throw in riding kit or accessories.
"Why are they so reluctant to negotiate?"
Becasue they know they will have plenty of customers who are willing to pay full price.
"I'm a cash buyer. What is their problem?"
There's no problem at all. They don't have to negotiate the price, so why should they?
"Should I just pass…"
Yes.
"… Maybe wait until the winter starts to hit and maybe then they would be more willing to negotiate?"
And maybe they won't. This is what living in a free market economy is all about.
It be brand spankin new, dude. You'll get a discount on a new 2014, 2013, or 2012 bike they have had sitting around. You'll still be getting a warranty, etc.
Dealers don't always negotiate, especially on the bike. There's usually very little room for negotiation there. They also make money on the extras, like gear, prep fees, maintenance agreements and especially the loan they want to sell you. You aren't buying any of that stuff, so they really aren't getting more than a few hundred bucks from you.
I looked on EBay, this model was introduced in 2013. There were 0 bikes for sale, when the dealer is the only place to get one, it is not a distressed model, either pay up or look for a different bike.
Checked on Cycle Trader and here is what I found:

- I want a new Honda CR-V but only if dealer agrees to paint it in color I want for free. Will they agree to it? I want a new Honda CR-V in my favorite color: Sapphire Metallic which is available on Honda Pilot but not on CR-V for whatever reason. But this is the only color I want. So will dealer agree to do it?
- I want to change my exhaust tip on my 2015 Subaru Impreza Sedan NOT WRX NOT STI, what size do I look for? And what aftermarket brand is best to choose from, I'm use to working on Hondas not subaru's
- Does my honda ns 125r need indicators to pass mot? I have a honda ns125r, 1993, k reg and it has no indicators, will it pass mot without them. It's a UK mot
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
