Opinion on riding i moped in college?

I live in okinawa and next year ill be going back to the united states for college and I'm thinking about sending over my honda ruckus with me. I can't bring my self to selling it though because I've put so much work onto it. I don't even know the moped/scooter laws in Oklahoma but i refuse to sell this scooter.

My thing is how safe would it be riding a moped? In okinawa its a common thing to ride around but I don't think anybody rides them in the US, my scooter isn't slow its 125cc and can hit about 60mph on a flat road. I know i probably sound weird but i probably won't be getting a car so this is all i have… Just to get me through college at least. How do you think i will be, will it be safe.

You might reconsider about getting a car -- Oklahoma gets cold, snow.
You *MIGHT* be able to title and register you Ruckus 125 in Oklahoma.
Your Ruckus is *NOT* a "moped" or a "scooter." Legally your 125cc Ruckus is a motor-driven cycle, a small motorcycle. You will need a motorcycle driver's license to ride on the streets. You will not be legal on the freeways, as if anyone cares. And not sharing/spitting lanes -- that's only legal in California.

But, yeah, as long as you don't mind the heat/cold, the scooter will be reasonably safe.

No it will not be safe, you will be a very small object on the road trying to run with big cars and trucks. People in cars tend to not pay much attention to small two wheelers and almost never give them the right of way. Also is your moped street legal, will you be able to license it for use on the streets?

It will be fine around college campus i have one but if you want to go like 10 miles from campus it could be a problem

I know the Ruckus is sold in the States… But…
You need to see about importing it.
There may be changes you need to make, or maybe not allowed at all.

You may be better off (much less expensive) selling it and buying another on your return to the States.
