Replace battery on my honda pcx 125 scooter?
Can I replace the 12V 6Ah battery on my 125cc scooter with a 12V 5Ah battery, without causing damage to the sckooter
Better to use a 6A as the charging sysyem will slowly eat a 5A.
It's ok to go up in amps but unwise to go lower. You may find the battery fails after a while at night.
Ampere-hours are a measure of storage CAPACITY and RATE OF DISCHARGE. A battery is most discharged during starting. So, a 5Ah battery may not start the bike as well as a 6Ah in the winter, when the cold reduces the chemical action in the battery. The charging system will not "eat" it. Assuming the alternator etc. Are working correctly the motorcycle should provide sufficient current for its ignition even without a battery. The problem is that when stopped or traveling very slowly, the alternator may not be keeping up with demand, and so the battery will be slowly discharged. Just avoid idling the scooter for a long time or crawling along at low rpm and the 5Ah should work ok… Except in the winter. And don't add any electrical accessories.

- I have a 125 honda pcx scooter? When I pull away I hear a noise from the left sounding a lot like a fan belt noise in a car. Its a 2012 scooter done 7400 miles always had a service.sometimes you don't hear the noise in the sun but wet weather you seem to hear it more.once you pull away the noise goes. When I put bike on stand you can't hear it, its when you sit on bike and pull away.
