Should i buy start buying motorcycle gear?

I'm taking the MSF basic course on july 25-27, should i start buying motorcycle gear? Or wait until i get my motorcycle. Cause i'm thinking between a cruiser ( ex: honda shadow ) or a sport bike. Cause i'm buying it used.

What gear you buy might depend somewhat on the motorcycle you get. For instance, color matching or whatever. If you don't care about that, then it's at least time to start -looking- at gear, so you'll know what you want when the time comes.

When you buy your bike, you might be able to negotiate some free gear

You may want to buy your helmet before the class. Go to your local shop and wear one you like for 20 mins and see how it feels. Then you will know which one to get.

Definitely buy gear when you street ride. The course might not matter. You k ow how you see the girls on the back of motorcycle in shorts and tank tops? Well I saw a girl who wrecked on my Facebook wearing that. Her legs and entire body was scraped and burned from the pavement… Except for where her jean shorts started. For the course I mean a helmet, jacket, and jeans should be fine. No even a armored jacket and oh gloves!

  • What motorcycle should I start on? I'm about 6'2 or 6'3 and I was wondering what kind of motorcycle I should start on. I was thinking about a Honda rebel 250, but I heard it would be uncomfortable for taller people. Would I be considered too tall for a rebel? If so, what bike would be best?
  • What kind of motorcycle should i start out with? I'm 6'3 245 pounds i have little experience with riding and I'm still rookie. I'm going to take a motorcycle safety course before i get a motorcycle. I'm considering buying by friend's 04 honda cbr 600 f4i is that an okay bike for me to start with considering my size and all. I have already rode that bike and i think it is okay but i'm not experienced enough to tell.
  • Shoud I buy the motorcycle before or after I get my license and gear? I found an interesting offer on a Honda CB500 from 1993 but I don't have my license nor gear. I'm afraid that if I don't buy it now I might loose it. What do you think? Of course I don't plan on riding with no gear. I'm going to store the motorcycle until it's 100% safe
  • Motorcycle stalls when put in first gear? I try turning on my motorcycle and it would idle just fine, I'll rev it and it sounded good but when put into first gear (while still holding on to the clutch) it died instantly. I tried playing with the choke and turning it on that way but eventually it stalled and now it won't even start. It's a Honda Shadow VT1100 and the battery was charged recently so could it be the alternator?
