Should i upgrade to a honda cbr250?
I currently ride a 2007 honda rebel 250, i've been having it for 2 years. I learned to ride it and got my license with it. I stopped riding for about 7 months, but i've been riding everyday for the past 3 months and i feel like i've gotten used to it already. I can easily maneuver the honda rebel in traffic etc. I never liked cruiser styled bikes, i've always preferred sportier bikes. I didn't start on the honda cbr250 because of the high seat height (i'm a 19year old 5'1 girl) and i wasn't comfortable without being able to put both feet down at every stop. Now, most of the time i stop with only one foot on the ground. And if i get the cbr250, i would have it lowered 1 or 2 inches.
Do you think i'm ready to get the cbr? Or should i just stick with the rebel even though i hate its style?
is the cbr harder to ride because its a sport bike?
Question: Do you think i'm ready to get the cbr?
Answer: You are not yet ready to grow up. You want the cute jock even if he cheats with other girls and abuses you. Whatever! Most people never do learn that performance is better than style.
** Ride Your Own Ride **
If you want the Honda, get it. You only need to put a foot down at stops, and you only need one foot. Rather than screwing up the suspension learn how to stop with one foot flat on the ground with your other thigh over the saddle. Or not. You can remove the padding on the saddle and screw the suspension so it is no longer moves like a sport bike.
Congrats to you on your progress developing your motorcycle riding skills over the last few years.
Now to answer your 3 questions:
Q: "Do you think i'm ready to get the cbr?"
A: Maybe. It seems you have are acquiring some bad riding skills. I would suggest keeping both feet flat on the ground.
sticking with the rebel?
I would keep the rebel just in the event you don't like riding the cbr 250. As of now you only think you want the CBR. Try the CBR for a few months and then decide if you want to sell your rebel You may end up liking both for different reasons. However if money is that tight I would just suggest riding a safe motorcycle option.
is the cbr harder to ride?
The handle bar placement and seat height of the CBR will make it more challenging. Bike shops alter these but in the end you may be making your bike more like a standard. But with the CBR you will always have a cooler look due to the fairings, more forward riding style, and higher top speed if your into that.
The part about is it harder because it's a sport bike- yes and no
Personally I've barely ridden motorcycles but I took the MSF course on a 250cc Suzuki. Immediately after I passed, I learned on a 2008 cbr600rr sportbike. This is how I personally feel about it. The cbr statistically was much heavier but because of its sport bike design it felt lighter at the balance point than the 250 Suzuki. As anyone will tell you a sportbike isn't as comfortable but as long as you don't have any sort of back or arm problems you should be fine. I say that because when I hopped on the supersport it felt really weird at first, but no joke after about 5 minutes driving it, I got used to it. You have to keep in mind I'm very tall compared to you tho at 6'0 male. So what may feel one way to me, may not feel the same to you

- Want to upgrade to a bigger cruiser? This is the second season I haven't had a motorcycle and I can't take it anymore! I previously had two honda shadow 750's and they were great bikes, but I want something with more oomph. I'm pretty open to any manufacturer. There are a few things that I'm looking for in a bike. Low seat height. I'm right under 5 7". Somewhat light bike. 550-650 ish pounds Less than $5000.
- My 2012 Honda CBR250 motorcycle won't start. Video link included? So I previously posted this question but lacked sufficient information, so I'm reposting with a video link depicting the sound the bike is making. At first I thought the battery was dead, so I go a new battery, and the bike still won't start. It has 250 miles on it but hasn't been ridden in about 9 months. I took the side panels off to see if there was anything obstructing air intake, nothing observed. All suggestions are welcome.
