What motorcycle should I get?
I'm looking to get my very first bike and have a budget of about $3000. Many of the bikes I have seen are V Stars 650 and Vulcans 750, however I also have looked at a 2001 Honda Magna 750. Now the Vulcans and VStars have ranged anywhere from 99-06, which would mean a newer bike with less miles than the Magna, however I have heard that the Magna is a better bike because of the V4 engine that gives a much smoother ride. What are your guys' thoughts? And explain why you think that it would be a good fit for me.
P.S. I'm looking for a cruiser I can ride comfortably for fairly long amounts of time, that is starter friendly, while still maintaining enough power to keep me cruising at interstate speeds with ease for years to come. (So that rules out 250cc tinker toys.)
The V Star 650 has a bad reputation for mechanical trouble. The Honda Shadow 750 is probably the most popular 'small' cruiser, it's water-cooled, which is a plus. The Vulcan 750 is in the same category as is the Suzuki Boulevard C50.
The Magna is in a class by itself. It has a V-4 so it rides a lot smoother, also it's a lot faster. (It's actually a pretty hot bike!)
The thing is, cruiser people seem to want a single-crankpin V-twin. The engine Harley Davidson invented. It vibrates a lot but that's what they want! That 'potato potato' idle sound. Honda used to make Shadows with a twin-crankpin engine so it would have perfect primary balance, and it was more powerful too in the bargain. But they determined the market didn't want that so they went to the single crankpin design. It was called the Shadow ACE (ACE standing for American Classic Edition), but now the single crankpin engine is all they make!
So the Magna is VERY different. For some reason the market rejected that wonderful V4 engine (though it's still used on other sporty and sport-touring bikes).
A friend of mine has a Magna and I ride it a lot. The only problem I have with it is I don't like the seating position, the seat is a little too far forward for me. But that's just me.
- You say do I need to keep the Bell helmet the renter wore when he slipped, and crashed my motorcycle? My motorcycle is the 2008? Honda CBR600RR super sport motorcycle. The Cofounder of Riders- Share.Com compensated me the full amount of the motorcycle repairer's written damage estimate. I was also fully compensated for the helmet, which the renter wore when he crashed my motorcycle and my helmet.
- Which motorcycle should I get for a beginner? I'm planning on buying a motorcycle because I'm turning 16 soon and I need a vehicle to commute to and from school. Which bike is reliable for a starter? Honda CBR 125CC, Yamaha R125, Ninja Kawasaki 250R or other bikes? I'm also in a budget and looking for a bike around $2,000 and will not go over $2500. I'm also 5'11 and 155 LBS.
- What size motorcycle should I get next? So I've had my Honda rebel for about 2 years now and am wanting to move up. First off I'm a very small woman, I'm 5 3" and weigh around 120 lbs. My boyfriend is worried I can't handle a big bike and I'm just looking for someone a bit more knowledgeable on the subject. He doesn't want me to get anything bigger, but I feel I'm ready. Any thoughts?
- What motorcycle should i get? - 2 I'm trying to choose between a honda cbr300r or a honda rebel. I need one that can get me up the interstate safetly and with speed so i can get to work which is about 30 to 40 miles away. Can someone please give me some advice.
