Motorbike bogs down and cuts out at full throttle?

I have a gilera cougar 125 (Honda engine), when are full throttle it bogs down and can cause it to cut out. It runs fine otherwise and it's not making any stage sounds or anything.

It's flooding the engine with gas at full tilt

Sounds to me like its not getting enough fuel…

Fuel filter / screen, or a remote possibility if it has a carburetor the jet could be partly clogged or some problem with float/ needle valve.

Remove your air filter and see if it needs replacing. Try going full throttle with the filter removed, if it works try another filter. If it reoccurs with a different filter then you have carburetor problems. I know this because I had the same problem on my CB450.

If it's a similar bike to the CG125 then your filter is likely located under the seat. Remove the airbox screws to get to it.

Hope this helps!

  • Why is my 2006 Honda Metropolitan cutting out at full throttle? When I give my moped full throttle and open it up all the way it just sounds bogged down plus the acceleration is terrible and I have to gradually give it has very slowly. We replaced the air cleaner, fuel filter, coolant, oil, put premium gas in it and also purchased some injector cleaner but it still does this. We thought it was the fuel filter but it hasn't changed it (very much). Any help is appreciated thanks in advance!
  • Why is my Honda CB250 motorbike spewing out so much smoke? When I run my bike it gives off a lot of smoke when riding and at the lights. As far as I can tell it runs fine, but just smokes a lot. It was so bad tonight that the taxi behind me was pretty much engulfed by smoke, so much so I was worried if he could see the road properly or not. I of tern take it on longish distances (over an hour of riding at about 90ks an hour (56 miles. Could that have damaged it ( I know its not exactly designed for that)
  • My bike keeps bogging down at full throttle? 2004 Honda cbr 600rr 41k miles. I was on the highway after work and there were no car so I decided to hit top speed 155. Full throttle it got up to 120 and felt like it was bogging down. When i rolled off the throttle a little it started pulling and got up to 130 then i gave it full throttle again and it started bogging down and losing speed. Its an older bike and i don't really have the money to take it to the shop. Any ideas?
  • Mini bike engine runs full throttle, I believe there's a problem with the internal governor gear, any thoughts? It's a Honda g150 engine that's been sitting in a shed for over 35 years. I took off the carb and cleaned it out, the governor arm doesn't return back to idle, it just sits on full throttle. Runs fine minus that problem. Got it started yesterday and it took off I had to bail and it kept going right into my neighbors house lol.
