It doesn't matter if you're driving a mile or not. It's the cost of ownership. New York is the eighteenth most expensive state to own and operate a motor vehicle in. That's according to a new report by Bankrate.com.
The report accounts for the cost of gas, insurance and vehicle repairs. The folks at Bankrate.com say while New Yorkers spend less on gas than other states, the state has the fourth highest car insurance rates in the country.
According to the report, New Yorkers spend $365 in repairs, $1,196 on insurance and $713 on gas for a total of $2,273 per year
