Selling a '89 Honda Pilot?
How much should I sell it for? The battery is dead, but the pull start works great. There's nothing wrong other than needing a new battery.
Added (1). Forgot to mention it's a FL400cc
Since potential buyers can't test drive it, they are not going to be interested unless you practically give it away. And no smart buyer is going to take your word that the battery is the ONLY problem on a vehicle over 25 years old. Why not make things a lot easier and simply put a cheap battery in it?
Why not spend the few bucks it will take to install a properly functioning battery? If a buyer might be interested they would certainly wish to give it a test run. You are limiting your potential pool of buyers by not having your FL400 in current running order.
Boy oh boy, was looking for a '89 FL 400 just last week and it needed a battery too.
Is there something wrong with 27year. Old batteries we should be concerned with?
" There's nothing wrong other than needing… "
-- Means YOU know what is wrong; and it will cost far more to fix whatever.
I'm not a mechanic, I will not buy a used vehicle that is not currently registered and plated and running fine.
A buck a cc. Plus $35 for the new battery you put in.
Hey, I loved my kick starts, but there are those who prefer pushbutton.
Besides, you'll get more lookers (and possibly takers) when your ad says "needs nothing". Often you can see stuff listed with "needs TLC"… Fact is TLC most often means Total Lost Cause.
BTW, (because I'm me) I'd be asking why a new battery - and you would have a chance to prove to me the charging system worked. Dead battery = no proof = no sale.

- 1977 Honda GL1000, selling, don't know how much? I'm trading my "ruckus clone" that is basically a project that failed horribly on my end. Said he will trade his 1977 Honda GL1000 for my scooter. He said that the only problem with the GL1000 is that it needs the carbs cleaned… Which isn't really much of a problem, easy solve. But if thats the real case, not much rust, only needs the carbs cleaned, how much could I sell this bike for… Depending if I don't fall in love with it and keep it for myself.
