Teenager driving a 66 Mustang?

So I'm a 17year old teenager in Texas and I just got my first car. It's a 1966 Mustang with a 289v8 automatic. It wasn't running but I restored it with my dad as a father-son project and I'm in love with it. We aren't completely finished yet but getting closer and closer every day. Also, I know much about this car. Put headers on it, redid the brakes completely, muffler, transmission, fixed the radiator, etc. I know my stuff. I was just wondering if in my high-school since I'm a Junior, what'll be everybody else's reactions to see a 66 Mustang pull up in the parking lot? Most people at my school drive Hondas, Toyotas, but there are just a few 14' Mustangs, a couple chargers/challengers and also some Mercedes etc. Will I get judged? Or will people like it? It's the original solar flare red also.

Since the mustang came out kids have driven them to school. Teenagers are too self absorbed to care what you park in the lot. A few may notice, but they're busy wondering if you saw their whatsit. Now some teacher might stop and tell you about their mustang they had in high school. My friends daughter-in-law has the signal flare red 66, 289 4spd coupe she restored with her father for her 16th birthday and she's talking about getting it redone for her daughter that's 12 to drive when she turns 16… Remember it's an old car lacking all the safety equipment standard on newer cars, so drive with care. Your car did zero to 60 in 10.9 seconds new, that 2014 if it has a 3.7.0L V6 5.8sec, or a 2011 dodge challenger V6 6.8sec so stay out of any speed contests if for no other reason then to avoid embarrassment… BTW you may want to upgrade the brakes

It's a very popular classic so they will be envious for sure. I had to drive a 10 year old Buick to HS, but after I graduated, I got a job and saved my money. Then when I was 19 I bought a brand new 65 Mustang!

Everyone's different so not everyone will like it while other's will hate your guts for having it (in the good way) lol

Just do all mustang owners a favor AND DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID IN IT TRYING TO SHOW OFF! Mainly cause your parents will be paying even more ridiculous insurance rates for you to drive such an old car at your age, but also because since it is so old there's nothing to save you getting hurt if you wreck past an aftermarket seatbelt.

Of course, since you have a 289 V8, there will be a few who want to race you. Avoid this temptation.

Whether they like it or not-- the value of your car will continue to rise as the values of theirs goes down!
