Toyota Rav4, Subaru or Jeep Liberty (For a female college student/non so confident driving)?
I currently drive a Toyota corolla 98, I like older cars for some reason but my husband bought a Jeep Cherokee and
I love how smooth it feels while driving, but since I'm not a confident driver. And still need to improve, i would like an suv-like car but thats smaller and safer to drive for instance (high, not so big, but with still some room).
which would you suggest? Thank you!
Added (1). I forgot to mention I live in an area where it snows quite a lot. So if any other suggestions on small suvs perhaps even 4x4 versions then great
Added (2). Just an update: I do prefer older cars like Eric mentioned from the years 2001-2005. My corolla is from 98 and I have never felt down because of it being an old car instead it's very reliable. Just wanted to upgrade on something more bigger and that will drive better in the snow. The corolla did fine in the snow but then again I didn't drive it as much, and this time I will be so I'm def going to stick in the lines between a Rav4, subaru or honda.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! I would cross off the Jeep Liberty. It has much lower quality than the others, has poor fuel economy and uses a part-time 4wd system that is not as easy-to-use or sure-footed as a full-time, AWD system.
CUVs (crossover utility vehicles) with full-time AWD (all-wheel-drive) are the easiest to drive and most sure-footed in varied conditions. These include the Subarus, the RAV4, Honda CR-V and others. They are also fuel-efficient and handle better than body-on-frame 4wds like the Jeep Liberty.
I'm not sure which years of vehicle you are considering, but if you're wanting to go fairly new, I'm usually a Toyota guy but I recommend the Mazda CX-5. We've had one in the family a few years now and it is much more fun and car-like to drive than the others we tested. Fuel economy has been very good (30 mpg overall), and it has been very satisfying all-around. It's my favorite CUV.
If you prefer to go older, I suggest the 2nd-generation (2001-2005) Toyota RAV4. The prices are getting reasonable and the engines have vvti (for better efficiency and power) and use a timing chain, for lower maintenance needs.
Subaru makes some really nice products, and their AWD systems are top-notch, but their engines make me nervous. Head gasket durability is questionable (and they have two of them), and I've seen or heard of too many Subaru engine failures for my liking. Stick with the corolla, it'll last way longer and is one of the best cars to learn to drive on.
Suvs suck in the snow, a four wheel drive jeep would be the best but a front wheel drive manual corolla will do just about everything anyway, unless there's a serious storm in which you probably shouldn't be out cruising anyway. Subaru.

Subaru.
- Honda pilot or jeep liberty? So i'm searching for a new car and i'm either going to get a honda pilot or a jeep liberty but i was wondering out of the both which one is more reliable or better quality. I know other then the third row and more space in the pilots there engine's aren't much of a difference. And i'm assuming the gas is the same. But i like to get some feedback. Please be nice no rude comments
- Would you buy a Jeep Liberty 2007 model with 29K mi on it? I drove a Jeep Liberty from 2003 til 2011. I love it, but the transmission was screwing up, so I traded it in for a brand new Honda CRV. I loved my Jeep, and my Honda is no comparison. Its small and I feel like its too small. I'm going to look at a low mileage Jeep Liberty tomorrow. What's your thoughts?
- What is the best car for a college student? My current car is my dads old Hyundai Tucson 2005, now that I have the money I'm looking for a new better looking car but still reliable and good in snow. current options are: 2014 scion Tc / 2014 Honda civic or 2014 KIA forte koup. Tell me which one you think is better.
- What is a good car for a college student? This is my second year of college and finally going to buy a car! I'm 20 years old, turning 21 in august 11, 2015. I had my license for only a couple of months, like 3 months. Any recommendation? 350z? G35? Honda civic? Mazada 3? Anything that looks nice and appealing. Cheap to insure and pretty face. Thank you! I live in California, Los Angeles. I don't know why I typed pretty face. Just ignore.
