What price can I expect to pay to repair or replace the manual transmission on my 1997 Honda CX?

"Repair or replace"? It is going to be a HUGE difference in price depending on what it needs, son. Much more information is needed! Are you talking about a clutch replacement, or did you somehow manage to destroy the transmission itself? A new transmission will be about $3,000 plus $500 labor; an rebuilt would be about $1,500; a genuine Honda clutch replacement at the dealer is about $900; and a cheapo aftermarket clutch at an independent shop could be under $500. Of course, it depends on your location, and most of all, what the car actually needs!

About $1200.

Depends on:

Where you live
What dealer/garage you go to (labour charge rate)
What PART(S) needs replacing

As USUAL too little info provided by the asker!

On standards we need to take transmission apart to see what parts are gone call dealer with list and get price to quote the job. On automatics we pretty much know what parts go since we see enough of the same transmissions and keep parts in stock for those transmissions. Honda automatics between 98-07 are the problem automatics and keep plenty of the parts in stock
