What would be the best option for a first car?
Advice on picking my first car, $5000 limit?
Which would have the cheapest problems?
Which would be cheaper on insurance?
I'm trying to save up some money for my first car. I'm looking for something under $5000. I'm only 17 so I know insurance is going to be expensive with any car I decide to get. I know every car has its problems as well, I'm just trying to see how much the costs associated with the vehicle would add to whether or not I decide to get it. With all that said I'm still dead set on getting one with some speed and a little luxury. I already have a list of possible options I'm going for. Honda's are nice but the only Honda's I would consider would be the prelude sh, Integra gsr, rsx type s, tl-s, tsx: but I know a rsx-s would be out of my price range for one that hasn't been beat up already and acura tl-s were known to have transmission problems for the ones I would be able to afford. I just want something with a little speed and luxury just like any other 17 year old.
Lexus is300
Chevrolet impala ss 90's
Chevrolet Camaro
Chevrolet Monte Carlo ss
Chevrolet s10
Acura tl-s
Acura Integra gsr

Saab 9-3
Mitsubishi 3000gt/Dodge Stealth

Mustang foxbody
Some of the vehicles listed are probably out of my price range but were listed for some insight in what I'm looking for.
Most of the vehicles on that list are not going to work. I see 2 good options for you. Look for a Toyota or Honda FWD small car. They are normally as trouble free as you can get. Look for an older car with low mileage, it will probably cost less and do better than a newer car with high mileage. The second option is a RWD truck. Something basic, with low mileage. Regular cab pickups that are RWD can be had fairly cheaply. With a truck, tires and some other things cost more, and you pay a penalty at the fuel pump, but generally trucks, made for heavier work usage, will have fewer problems than cars. A work-type truck will also not have electric doodads, like power windows, to break down. The Ford Crown Victoria/ Mercury Grand Marquis fall into this category too. Riding a drivetrain built for taxis and police cars, they tend to run a really long time with few problems.
Find a used Toyota. You can drive a Toyota into the ground before you'll need to get another car.
Something Small, less than 10 Years Old, with less than 125K on it - would work fine, for Someone like You.
Used Subie or Volvo
Instead of going for instant speed go for a more reliable car that you can work on and tinker with to make it faster. It also depends on how much you are willing to spend on insurance more doors the better the insurance, as-well as if its a coupe or a hatchback coupes are normally more expensive to insure, the more horsepower the car has the higher the insurance rates will be. Fwd will be cheaper than awd witch is less expensive than rwd, 4x4 is the cheapest of all.
Most everything on your list is a bad choice.
You need a 4 door import, not a luxury car of any type. And don't even think about a Saab or Audi unless you have money to burn.
Acura RSX-S. Its great looking car, that can be modded to a real race beast! Gallantly eating up blacktop, the Acura RSX performs as if on a mission. All of the racing-inspired pep drivers need yet delightfully eye-catching and sporty, the RSX is one model that expresses versatility in more ways than one.
