Why is so few car brands in the US?

I'm tired seeing of fords, chevys, hondas, toyotas, hyundais, kias, VWs, and etc. Isn't like renault, peugeot, citroen, seat, and suzuki good reliable cars?

Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Seat, and Suzuki are all horrible quality cars.

Nope!

Move!

All those you mention are cheap pieces of ****!

It depends on where you live, but on any given day I see all makes of Ford, Chevy, GMC, Buick, Plymouth, Pontiac, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Acura, Lexus, Kia, Fiat, Cooper, Smart, Hummer, Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lotus, Jaguar - even the occasional Maserati, Ferrari, or Lamborghini.

I see a few Suzukis and Peugot's too - very few (if any) Citroen. Not to mention dozens of different makes/models of motorcycle.

I know what you mean though - I was driving to work one day and I was struck by every car coming the other direction being an almost identical boring grey/white/black box. Then, coming over a bridge - a sunshine yellow '65 Mustang. It was beautiful…

With the US regulations to import cars which are very different to Europe and the projected sales it is not worth importing the cars.
A lot of European manufacturers do not import the whole range into the US.
In Europe smaller engines, diesels and manuals are common. Many cars do not even have an Auto option.
All 3 are not popular in the US.

As compared to what? SCHWINN?

Many of these cars you mention can't import their vehicles into the USA because they won't meet safety or emissions standards. Many brands aren't imported because they won't sell here. Renault, Peugeot, and Citroen used to be sold here years ago, they were junk.

With the brands you mentioned, they are not in the US because they do not meet US Safety standards or emission standards. With some cars other matters are that the company might have a right hand drive model available only in England or Japan but left hand drive models sold under a different name in the US.

They are not reliable and many do not have airbags or are too unsafe. Suzuki is a very bad brand.

  • Which car brands are better? I know Nissan, Toyota, and Hondas are good cars but also too expensive. I go to school full time and work part time so I need a car but don't want to buy a horrible car that will break down all the time. I was thinking of getting Chevy aveo, chevy cobalt, Chrysler pt cruiser, Kia rio or a hyundai Elantra something that doesn't cost too much which one is more of a reliable car
  • Which brands of cars are more reliable and less expensive to maintain? I have been driving American cars, Honda, Toyota and they're easy to find parts when something go wrong. I would like to buy a Volkswagen beetle or a European car. Like 2004 or 2003 Volkswagen beetle. If something go wrong, does it cost more to fix it? Is maintenance more expensive than a Honda or a Toyota yaris. I know the Honda and Toyota last forever after a few hundred thousand miles and they re still in excellent running condition with regular services. What do you guys think?
  • What's your most and least favorite car brands? State a specific model if you want. Favorite- 3 way tie between Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes. I have a Mercedes C320 and it's very reliable. I also own a Honda but I want to replace it with a BMW X5. I do hate a few of their cars such as the BMW X6 Least favorite- Dodge and Chrysler. Not impressed by their styling and build quality. I also hate Toyota, i know their cars are good but their cars just doesn't impress me
  • What makes Toyota and Honda are the only best brands? Why? My friend said other jap brands like Nissan, Mitsubishi and Mazda are the most unreliable and junk. Do you think is this true? Would you recommend those makes? How about Subaru reliability?
