Why won't my car go past 100 mph?
My car is a 2003 Honda Element and recently I brought it to a mechanic shop to do a diagnostics in regards to why I have a significant drop in my gas mileage and the check engine light. Anyhow, long story short, he took a good hour and a half and it turns out to be that my car has a faulty o2 sensor, and most importantly they recommended that I get a fuel inductive system done and after that process a fresh set of spark plugs and an air filter.
From the diagnostic results the only benefit I can see from doing this is perhaps better gas mileage. Will this have any affect on my cars performance, if any, at all?
My car has 140,000 miles on it. Sometimes when am on an open stretch on the highway, it can sustain speeds of 75-85 mph. However when I press on the gas to hit full speed, it has no problem getting up to speed until 90-100 mph(depending on the direction I'm traveling)At that speed, I'm only at 3750-4000 rpms and my car has a redline at 6500 rpms. Whenever it does approach 100 mph, there car keeps climbing up the rpm tachometer but the speed doesn't let me go beyond 100. I just feel like the Engine has potential to reach at least 110-115 mph before drag really starts to take a toll on it.
Would resolving these suggested diagnosis help my car have a little more power to reach my top speed?
It has a governor that stops it from going any faster. It's a safety feature.
Have you ever walked against a 90 MPH wind? 100MPH is just that much harder. The vehicle is not streamlined by any stretch of the imagination. Going at higher speeds is like racing uphill and at 100 the hill is just too steep. That is how tough the movement through the air is.
. Find a road that has a long downhill(or strong tailwind) and you are more likely to reach 110. My Slug bug did… All 60 HP.(100mph) Did not like that fast speed. Then a cat crossed the road and you know… Mush
It will if you find a high enough cliff.
Drop a brand new overhauled engine in it and you might see 110
I can'T wait until you blow a tire and lose control at that speed, although a felony speeding ticket would be a pretty good show too
EPIC FAIL TROLL BREATH
How about this… Stop trolling and spend $1,000 on a clapped out sports bike and do 160mph every day of the week until you take yourself out of the gene pool.
140k on the clock. It's an old car, the engine lost its performance. An overhauled engine will probably give you those extra few mph. Is it worth it?
Have the valves adjusted.
- Should I buy a 2013 car with 100,000 mileage? May I ask for your advice? I found a used car registerd in 2013 at a very cheap price. The brand is excellent - we're talking about Honda, Nissan, Mercedes here. However, its mileage is 100,000. If you were in my situation, would you think it is worthwhile to buy? How long can that kind of car last?

- Which team's livery past or present is your favourite? Why? For me its Rothmans Honda. Dated I know. But the dark blue & white main colours with the red, white & gold stripes is not only simple but striking. Add in the Rothmans, Castrol & HRC logos in & walaa! Marlboros may be my favorite ciggies but the red & white just doesn't seem to 'fit' with a motorcycle. The modern day liveries, some with those heavy metalish designs or the orange white & black of Repsol are far too garish for my liking.
- Is buying a used Toyota, Honda or Mazda car over 100,500 mileage worth it? Or is it too risky? I don't want to buy a car that will die as soon as I get it. I want it too last a while.
