2000 honda accord(6th gen) vs 2000 toyota camry(XV20)?

Trying to decide which should be my first car. I like both but I think I like the looks of the camry a bit better but I like the sound of the accord more. Which one has more hp, better mpg, handling, comfort and over all a better first car?

Thanks

PS I'm a guy so which one would be more manly?

Get the one with a TIMING CHAIN and not a TIMING BELT! Try them BOTH on for size! I tend to like TOYOTA and NISSAN before HONDA! They share the SAME suppliers for most essential car parts from JAPAN!

From what I understand, the Toyota is a much quieter car on the highway. I can attest to the road noise in the Honda.

I believe that generation of accord had transmission problems.

The '00 Camry would maybe be a better option. They had problems with sludge development, but if you change the oil and filter every 3000 miles, you should have no problems. Just make sure to find one that has been really well maintained. Oh, and before you buy ANY used car, especially that old, have it inspected by a private mechanic. I can't stress that enough.

Robert M. Is right. Make sure you get one with a timing chain. If it has a timing belt, it needs to be replaced every 60-80k miles. If this service was done recently, then don't worry too much. But replacing that belt can cost around $800.

I would go with the Toyota. I wouldn't buy a new one, but they were great back then!

Go with the mileage…
