Air escaping when opening gas cap?
Everytime i open my cars gas cap i hear a hissing sound like air coming out when i take off the gas cap. Is that normal? I drive a 94 honda accord ex
Yes that is normal because evaporating fuel is a pollutant. So instead of the filler cap simply being vented, it traps pressure from fuel evaporation in the tank.
Yes, modern gas caps are air tight to slow down the amount of gas fumes that evaporate and escape into the environment. So it's normal for them to pressurise slightly and you get a "hiss" as you open them and let the pressure off.

- I have a 2015 Honda rancher that had a crack in the air box. It got so much dirt through the air filter it got into my piston. So it now Burns oil and I was wonder will it ever stop smoking. I know I have to rebuild the engin so don't even say it. And how long will it take before it losses power.
- What's the best Distributor cap and rotor for a 1997 Honda Civic EX? I have to do a tune-up pretty soon for my Honda. I was recommended NGK spark plugs and wires but not the cap and rotor. I'm sure the OEM is ideal but if there's a company that makes caps and rotors much more efficient than OEM then I want to get those to go along with the NGKs. So my question is that is there a company that specializes in Caps and Rotors like NGK is with spark plugs and wires?
- Bumped Honda Element against pole, drivers side door pops when opening? So I was an idiot and bumped against a pole as I was pulling out of a drive through (this place has it in the worst spot ever). Car runs fine, alignment seems ok, no weird noises. But unfortunately the drivers side door pops whenever I open it, but not close. It happens almost immediately. Any thoughts on this? Easy to fix? Or maybe a ballpark estimate to how much to fix? Any input appreciated!
- Will two missing screws on a distributor cap affect running condition? What happens when distributor cap screws are missing. What problems can it cause to my car is a 97 honda accord.
