Car fan won't turn on unless AC is on?
I have a 1997 Honda Accord and lately it has been overheating. The fan in the car will not come on unless I run the AC but yesterday I was driving on a cool day with the AC on and it still started to over heat so I pulled over and let it cool down. After that, the check engine light came on.
Please let me know if you know of anything that might be causing this so I can get it fixed. Thank you.
P. S. I have already tried replacing the thermostat and it didn't fix it.
Is your radiator full? Is it leaking? That's the first place i would check if your car is overheating
Honda's are know to be prone to overheating, which is really bad. My 1980 Accord has similar problems so we wired one of the two fans to run all the time.
I would also do a compression test to check if the head and head gasket are still good, being a 97 I would be very concerned if you still have the original head gasket in the engine.
It sounds like you need a new cooling fan temperature switch.
- My rear lights don't come on when light switch its turn on. They only turn on when i press the brake pedal? (same with the cluster assmbly) on my 1992 honda civic 4 door. All bulbs are good. Just replaced all fuses.
- 2012 Honda Civic won't start up unless I step on the gas pedal and turn key simultaneously? I have already changed 3 batteries over the course of approximately 90,000 miles. I recently changed the 3rd battery as well as the spark plugs, but the car still wouldn't start unless I step on the gas pedal first.
- 1999 honda civic sedan lx a/c condenser fan won't turn on? I checked the fuses all good. Checked the relays all good. Also checked the voltage at the connecter and it's receiving 12v. The radiator ran is running. The compressor itself engages. The a/c is on and the fan still doesn't turn on I've checked the fan using an 12v dc power supply and it worked. So what could be the problem. Blower motor also works.
- I have a 2008 Honda Accord ex-l and when I turn the key to start the engine it takes 4-6 turn overs? Is it normal to have it turn over that much? I used to have a 1991 Honda Accord lx that was all beat up and I never had to hold the key in place. All I had to do was turn the key and bam engine start. With the car that I have now I have to wait a few seconds for it to go. Just wondering if that's perfectly fine.
