How much would it cost for an electrical problem in my car to be fixed?

My car's battery has been dying on me two times already and this is my third time buying a new one. It seems that all the lights of my cars air conditioner/ heater turned off and its giving me difficulties to cool the a/c. Only the fan works and when you live in florida, you need more than just a fan to keep cool in this heat! I know the cooler is filled with freeze on but it's still not letting me function anything on my controllers, hence not cooling at all and it is giving off a really bad smell. It's a miracle actually that my radio is still working.
Also both fans are working just fine.
Can someone please give me an estimate of how much it would cost me to fix this? I'm guessing its some wire problems that is running my battery dry…

Please and thank you.

P.s. I forgot to add that My car is a Honda Accord SE 2000.

I'm no expert but sound like the alternator needs replaced and you are talking £400+

Batteries are for starting the car, once the car is started the power is coming from the alternator and the alternator is charging the battery. Have the charging system diagnosed as you may have an intermittent problem with the alternator working some of the time and not working some of the time, its due to an internal fault with the brushes… When its doing that you can usually reproduce the problem by banging on it

can't know how much it costs without a diagnosis. It could be your battery cables, alternator, a plug backing out, bad ground wire, rogue shorted wire. 90% of the time this happens its due to the alternator. When the problem first starts, it can just look like you are having bad luck with batteries. It will get worse to the point the alternator is not working most of the time and the vehicle may die while you're driving it.

you can probably find a reconditioned alternator for about 150 bucks versus about 350 for a brand new one. It should be about a 1 hour job to install an alternator, depending on how much stuff they have to take off to gain access to the serpentine belt. An alternator isn't that difficult to install yourself, it just bolts on and the belt goes on it. You just need a "Serpentine belt tool" for releasing the tension on the belt so you can get othe alternator off… It can even be as easy as that as long as you don't let the belt slip off any other pulleys while its loose. It cost 30 dollars to rent serpentine belt tool at autozone and you get your money back when you return it.

Wiring problems can run from a hundred bucks to several thousand; it depends on how long it takes to find the issue and what has to be replaced to fix it.

How about having the charging system tested for free at an auto parts store so you find out if the alternator is charging the battery or not?!

  • About how much would it cost to repair the front bumper on my car? The right side of the bumper on my 2003 Honda Pilot was hit today and it's a bit dented in along with what appears to be scratches perhaps. Like, they're these streaks of white paint on them that I think might also be scratches. Would I have to replace the entire bumper or can that be fixed by itself?
  • Motorcycle Electrical Problem. Power Commander 3 light flickers when indicators are turned on? Seem to have a lot of problems with the wiring of my motorcycle. Previous owner really messed it up. Sent it to a mechanic for him to fix the headlight and taillight wiring because they don't work. That was more than two months ago! Apparently he is busy and I don't know what else. Bike is a 2000 Honda cbr1100xx Blackbird. Problem now is the lights on the power commander 3 start to flicker when the indicators are activated. What is the cause of this? Bike starts and runs fine btw.
