Which car is the most reliable?
Especially, for long back and forth work commutes? And why?
A. Pontiac Vibe 2005-2009
B. Honda Accord 2004-2009
C. Hyundai Elantra 2007-2010
D. Hyundai Sonata 2007 - 2011
E. Mazda 3
Toyota Corolla best car for gas.
Pontiac Vibe is based on the Toyota Corolla so it should be pretty good.
None of the others are lemons either.
The Accord and Sonata are slightly bigger vehicles and will probably use more gas.
The Elantra and Mazda 3 are more comparable to the Vibe.
BUT, for reliability, it's going to come down to the individual vehicle. A well maintained low mileage Mazda is going to last you longer than had high mileage abused Vibe.
A car is only as good as its previous owner. Did the previous owner treat it with care? How does the interior look? Any significant exterior damage? Any used car you're thinking of buying should be given a once-over by some certified mechanic that you trust, before you close any deals.
Of the cars you're interested in, I'd say the Honda Accord and Pontiac Vibe would be the most reliable, if you are looking, as you say, for a trustworthy commuter car. (The Pontiac Vibe is basically a re-branded Toyota Matrix, and, as long as you treat it right, it will serve you for years. My mom had one she passed down to my sister… A 2006 with 178,000 miles on it, and still going strong!)
If it was me, I'd stay away from the Elantra. Hyundai HAS come a long way since their beginnings, but older Hyundai's (2003 and older) are to be avoided. If you are seriously interested in the Elantra, I would recommend you go for the newest model year you can afford.
Mazdas are sporty, and cool - I have nothing bad to say about them! Again, it all comes down to the individual car's condition. Check the car out, thoroughly, and beware of anything that seems potentially fishy. Older Accords (90's to early 2000's) are likely to be the ones driven exceptionally hard, but if you stick with a newer model year, you shouldn't run into this problem as much.
Just be smart about it, use common sense, and get as many of your questions answered as possible.
Mazda 3… Consumer reports.
Honda, with cash.
I would go with either the Pontiac Vibe or the Hyundai Elantra. The vibes are reliable but sluggish when equipped with an automatic, and Hyundai Elantras are way more reliable then they used to be and offer great value compared to the others.
- Which trucks are the most reliable or easiest to fix if something goes wrong? I'm searching for a pick up truck thats reliable. I know everyone has their preference. I'm searching between a ranger s10 z71 f150 and gmc mid sized trucks. Any other suggestions would be great. I know some cars like honda are very easy to fix and i'm just wanting a truck that I can easily fix if something goes wrong.
- What's the most reliable low-cost car I can buy in the 2-4k pricerange? So, after several horrific car experiences with repairs and maintenance I simply couldnt afford to keep up with, I'm seeking suggestions for the most reliable car I can get in my price range of $2,000-$4,000 dollars. My initial thoughts were maybe A late 90s early 00s Honda with around 100k (or less?).
- What is the most reliable used car one can get? Your 3 choices? I'm shopping for an inexpensive vehicle that I can use to run around for errands and groceries in an semi urban area. Something economical on gas and good and reliable. I was thinking Honda Civil? What is your thought on that?
- What is the most reliable car you've ever owned and how many miles did you put on it? Mine was Honda Passport with 250,000 miles bought brand new. Yeah I know it was rebadged Isuzu Rodeo but it was surprisingly reliable with no major problems.
