Would you buy a Honda Civic or Honda Accord with over 100k miles on it already?
Added (1). Hello. I'm looking for a "runner" car for work where Id be driving at times around Ohio, Michigan, PA etc for my job. I don't want to have a high payment and I was recommended a 2005 Civic Hybrid with 101,000 miles on it already or a 2007 Honda Accord with 112k miles on it. Priced at 9k for the 1st and 10k for the second… Thoughts on buying a vehicle with over 100k on them?
It really depends on how good or bad the previous owner was to the car. If it was taken care of, then it may be ok to buy.100,000 miles is really nothing to a Honda, Toyota, etc. I had a 86 Toyota truck with 310,000 miles and it was still running, not burning or leaking oil, had plenty of compression, etc. So foreign cars usually last longer than domestic cars do.One thing I would consider doing if you do decide to buy one of these cars is a timing belt change, unless its been done recently. These two cars may have interference engines and if the timing belt breaks while the engines running, the engine is normally destroyed because valves and pistons collide. So I would definitely ask about whether the timing belt has been replaced or not. If the hybrid was used a lot while under battery power vs engine power, I'm not sure what the mileage or hour lifespan is on its batteries so I would do some online research on this subject. I imagine those batteries are really expensive to replace.
My wife's 2003 V6 Accord went 275,000 miles before we had to replace the motor. Even then it was still running, just burning oil.
Not enough info. I need to know service history, accidents? Age, condition etc.
Generally I prefer cars with lower mileage.
Check the blue book value and make sure it's not higher than what they say
No, I would not.
The last Honda I bought was a 1993 Accord with 163K miles. My daughter put another 100K miles on it before trading it in.
I wouldn't buy a ten year old hybrid unless I know the battery pack has been replaced - that's about the life expectancy for those. The 07 Accord? Sure. I have an 08 with 135K and it still runs like new.
- What would you do if a lady around 30-37 told you that you were useless and would never amount to anything? She's a well dressed white lady with a brand new Honda SUV and she has a daughter that looks about 12 that is also well dressed and the girl is being rude and both are being very rude to the guy at the counter at Subway. Would it be wrong to curse out the old witch who tried to start a fight and cursed out the subway worker and you?
- How well built it the Chevy Sonic? Built for over 100k miles? Hello… Looking for a work vehicle. Does anyone know how well built these are? And how long they are made for? Comparable to a honda?
- Is it worth buying a used Chevy Volt with over 100K miles on it? The price is right, but is it worth it? I know I would have to install a power charging station which is an additional 1000 dollars. There's one for sale at 14,500 dollars… But most used Volts are around 23,000 dollars. My other two considerations are a new 2015 Honda Fit or a used Mark 6 VW Golf TDI I've seen people on youtube who average 120 mpg with the volt! One guy's was even 1000 mpg, I don't think he even brought it to the gas station since he bought the car!
- Would you buy a used 2010 Honda Civic sedan with 107k miles on it? It appears to be in great condition… Clean CarFax, only one owner (he leased it and then he bought it afterwards). Has 107,000 miles on it, and he's asking $8500. Is it worth it? He said that they were all highway miles driving to and from work mainly
