Acura Rsx Type S vs Honda Prelude Sh?
Okay so I've been looking at getting a new car. I'm 17 going on 18 and want to trade my car in to buy one for myself. I'm looking at an Acura Rsx, possibly type S. Not sure, i've noticed they re more expensive. Or, a Honda Prelude, Specifically an SH. I actually found a 1998 Honda Prelude SH for 4,999 with 77,000 miles on it. It doesn't have any real cosmetic flaws inside or out either, or mechanical I don't believe. Seems like a pretty good price to me. Although I don't know much about either car. In general pros and cons of each car? I want something fast but I'm not necessarily going to be racing. I'm trying to decide whether I want to get this car, or wait around and see if a better deal, or a good deal on an Acura Rsx comes around my area. Opinions? Any are welcome.
First things first: I would only consider a Prelude with a manual tranny. I'd never touch an automatic model from any Prelude model year.
Pretty sure the Type S was 6 speed manual only. Regardless of options, I'd pick the Type S for the 6 speed tranny alone. Theft & vandalism is my biggest beef with Hondas from the 90s, but I also live in a big city.
I don't consider either one blazing fast, but they'll be fun to drive. That's what should really matter, and is why I'd choose the Type S. Personally, I'd enjoy having that extra gear when I'm changing them manually. If you truly want fast, you need a performance V8 or something with a factory turbocharger.
Buy whichever one you like. They are pretty much the same cars. Just depends on how well they are maintained. 77k seems low for a 17 year old car. Lightly driven doesn't mean well maintained. I've seen cars with 80k have more issues than ones with 150k.
They are both fun, first cars. And, they both rev really high… I'd have a mechanic take a peek at one before you actually but it.
- What is the deference between a 1990 Honda prelude and a 1991 Honda prelude? Can I do a motor swap with my 1990 Honda Prelude with a 1991 Honda prelude? Both are b21a1 2.05L engines
- Does a 5th Gen honda prelude h22 head fit a 4th Gen prelude? I have a 1996 honda prelude si (4th gen) with a h23 engine and I want to swap my head to a h22 and I couldn't find any 4th generation being part out, but I did find a 1997 honda prelude (5th gen) being part out and I'm not sure if it'll fit my engine.
- Volkswagen GTI vs Supercharged Scion TC vs Acura RSX type S vs Honda Civic Si? As far as being a good car for a college student to commute back and forth to school? Good looking, somewhat quick(er) and reliable!
- Trading in my 02 Acura RSX to a 95 Honda Civic? I kinda rush in to buy a new car. Bought the 2002 acura rsx around $5000 plus tax so it's around $8000. I kinda regret buying it because of the high insurance. I still have to pay back the loan. I Want to trade it in for a 1995 honda civic because it's cheaper. So my question is will the dealership let me trade it in?
