Changed my fuel pressure regulator and now engine takes longer to start?

I own and 1999 Honda Prelude and just recently I replaced the fuel pressure regulator because I found fuel in the vacuum line. I went to advanced auto to purchase a new one and after replacing it I noticed a longer crank time to start whereas before the engine would start as it should. I then noticed that if I prime the fuel system 5 times (engine the fuel pump before starting) it starts just as it should. I decided to get a fuel pressure regulator to see what is going on but this problem did not exist before replacing the regulator. The fuel filter is overdue so I plan on replacing that but I'm not getting any faulty fuel pump symptoms either. Could it be that the part isn't genuine Honda? What would cause a longer start after replacing the fuel pressure regulator?

Might have an airlock just drive it it should work it out

  • Honda replaced my serpentine belt but my car is now taking longer to crank? Honda recently replaced my serpentine belt (2012 Honda Civic, 185k miles). I noticed that on cold starts, the car takes longer to crank and then eventually starts. Sounds like it doesn't want to start but then does. I will take it to Honda but I'm just curious what this is likely caused by? Loose belt? Tight belt? Pulley issue? No noticeable squealing, just the crank time. Instead of the usual 1-3 seconds, now my car takes about 3-5.
