Does 2003 honda civic have timing belts or chain? - 1
The 1.7L engine has a belt (105K miles) while the 2.0L engine has a chain.
It has a Timing (Cam) belt that MUST be replaced every 110,000 miles. If it breaks you will have serious engine damage. The 2.0 Liter is only found in the Civic Si.

But how do I gauge the bolt and belt tension after I put the new belts on? How do I know when I've screwed the bolt enough, too much or too little?
