Honda Civic. B-Series Swap or Turbo D-Series?
Honda Civic. B-Series Swap or Turbo D-Series?
Turbo D-Series
Although the B-Series is a straight-forward powerplant and a very popular option.
The D-Series offers more verity of OEM parts options, in the way of factory heads and internal parts.
With these options, a full OEM engine of greater power out-put can be built up.
Keep in mind, neither of these where initially designed for turbo, so the internals need to be modified.
The D-Series bottom-end can only handle 5-6psi (on an excellent tune).
Much needed mods:
Forged rods, dished pistons, MLS head gasket, head studs and race sleeves or block guard (depending on output).
Fuel delivery and ignition must be updated as well, per the needs of the build.
A D can be boosted on a stock head, but its optimal to at least get a turbo blue-printed cam.
And of-course, an excellent tune is most important.
With all of that said, Turbo D-Series can see larger gains, for less (because it's already under the hood).
- I'm thinking about doing an engine swap. B series vtech or K series vtech? I have a 2000 honda ek coupe with a d series vtech, but I'm looking to upgrade the power without the use of forced induction. My best bet is an engine swap but I'm still deciding between a b20 vtech or a k20 vtech. Which one would give me more power and what parts will I need?
- Will a j series swap fit in a 95 honda civic ex? I wanna know if a j series swap will fit in my 95 honda civic ex that has a D16y7 vtec and what would i need for it. Any other info will be helpful. I been lookin online and can't find nuthin about it
- What engines can I directly swap my D16y8 Honda motor for? It has to be more powerful and easy to swap? I have a civic with a d16y8 and its served me well but what motor could I easily swap in? I want to use the same gearbox but I don't mind swaping the ECU. The easier the swap and the more HP the better. Would prefer to use the stock manifold and intake etc.
- Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 or Honda Civic type R? Thinking of selling my car to get something a bit more nippy and narrowed it down to these two options. So in your opinion what would be best to get overall in terms of performace out of these two cars? (Assuming they are similar price/mileage) Subaru Impreza turbo 2000- (not wrx) Honda Civic Type R- (2001-2005 model) Both stock engines with no upgrades.
