Regarding pipe sizes and welding a cherry bomb?

Forgive me if I seem idiotic in the field of automobiles/cars/etc, as I will admit I know close to nothing about cars. I'm having a mechanic weld a cherry bomb to my 2002 Honda Civic LX, which has an exhaust pipe size of 1.75". Before I have him weld something too large or too small, I want to do some research so I don't screw things up. I understand that I need an adapter to go onto the exhaust, and one to go on the cherry bomb. Unfortunately, the smallest cherry bomb I could find had an inlet of 1.875". If I were to get an 2" adapter, have the mechanic weld it onto the exhaust, would it be too big? After that, would I be able to have the 1.875" cherry bomb inlet welded inside the 2" adapter, and would it fit fairly snug? I'm sure I'm not making much sense, and if I need to explain don't hesitate to tell me, but I'd really like to know if I'd be able to install this cherry bomb.

I'd forget about an adapter and rent a muffler pipe expander tool from my local auto parts store. O'Reilly's and Advance Auto parts have rental programs in my area.

You only need to expand the existing pipe about an eight of an inch to get a good fit between your existing pipe and your cherry bomb. Then a weld is an easy proposition to seal it up and deter theft.

Rental is usually free, although a substantial deposit is often required.

If your mechanic is in the habit of welding exhaust systems, he may already have the expander tool and will have no problem dealing with your add on.

  • What kind of exhaust pipe is this? So this is my first bike, and the pipes are just a little too loud. I'm looking to install some baffles to quiet her down and get a little better back pressure. Everything I've seen online pertains more to straight pipes and I just want to know what the technical name for these ones is and if you could possibly recommend a baffle as well, that would be incredibly helpful. They have a 3.5 inch diameter at the end. It's 1979 Honda CX500 Deluxe.
  • QUERY REGARDING HONDA CBR 150R? Is there any difference in 2014 HONDA CBR 150R model compared to the 2012 model? I read in some reviews that the switch gear has been updated with "pass light" in 2013 model, is it true? Cause in the 2012, it lacked "engine kill switch" and "pass light switch". Was there any update after the 2012 launch? And will there be any future launch for the same segment (ie 150cc). Lot of questions I know, but very curious to know, since I'm gonna book one!
