A bigger engine will increase hp.
KN type filter w/ or wo snorkel. Legal
Fastest and easiest way to make it 'faster'? Trade it off for a GSXR!
There's very little you can do to a Honda Shadow to make it much faster than when it rolled off the factory floor that makes a lot of financial sense. The RS is fuel injected so there's no messing with a carb. You could install a power commander or some type of digital fuel processer which typically run around $250 -$300. Install a different breather, another $150 - 7250. You can put aftermarket pipes on it, normally $300 - $500 that might give you another hp or two. It's high revving with a chain drive, so you could change sprockets which could give you a little extra top end. Some folks believe in K&N air filters, one might make it breath easier and lastly Iridium plugs. All together, if you put another $1k+ in to it, you might pick up a full extra 15 hp.
Now you can also start stripping the bike out and making it into a bobber. Reducing weight on the bike can often equal trying to add hp.
At the end of the day though, you still have a Honda Shadow. Great bike, but still one not designed to go all that fast.
Well lemme see there. Bigger pistons. Have it bored out and drop in some 30 over stock pistons. More displacement means more HP. For that matter they might have some BIG 50 over pistons for that bike? But keep in mind the bigger you go the thinner the cylinder walls will be and the more heat will be generated. So along with making it have more displacement [bigger motor] I'm sure you can add a set of better more free flowing exhaust pipes and do an EFI remap. An internal combustion engine is basically an air pump. The more oxygen you can flow through it the more power you will make. That leads us to having those cylinder heads put on a flow bench. A nice 5 angle valve job will make that thing really flow. Heres the caveat: It will be cheaper to just get a bigger faster bike.
Start with $1000.00 in pocket. Read the manuals and do the compression tests, check back flow pressure. Add another $1000.00 to blueprint engine and take it to high edge- a set of.020-1/2mm pistons, valve job, slightly shaved heads about.004 which is one pass with planer, port and polish intake, exhaust- match ports to manifolds- all the stuff a factory race team would do for a 'stock' racer. Strip it down some, make it a bobber for one person only to ride. Or just put a small windshield on it, a locking tail trunk and use the money to put on 5000 miles going to see the country and a few rallies.
- Upgrades to make a 86 Honda prelude faster? Hi, I have a 1986 Honda prelude, 1.8L dual carbourated, 5 speed, 170, xxx miles. I just did a tune up (Spark plugs, Oil, fuel filter.) this car runs really good, and is somewhat fast for being almost 30 years old. I want to do some simple upgrades on it to make it faster though. I have around $250 bucks and was wondering how far that could get me.
- What upgrades can i do to my 2000 Honda Civic Ex to make it faster and/or louder? So i have been looking at cold air intake systems and exhaust headers, etc, what are the best upgrades to get and what are the best brands?
- What's a couple of ways to add more power to my 2013 Honda Civic EX? Besides new intake and new exhaust, how much horsepower could I push out of this 1.8L engine without blowing it? What are other ways I can do this?
- I have a Honda Civic and want to make it faster? I have a 1998 Honda Civic coupe dx and it goes really slow up hills and takes a long to for the speed to increase up hills, it loses power. I want to be able to still go fast up hills, what can I put in my Honda Civic to make it faster?
