How much would it cost to swap my engine?

Added (1). I have a 84 honda nighthawk 650cc. It had an oil leak and the engine blew. I have found used motors for the bike at 500 bucks, I was curious as to how much money (roughly) would it cost to get a mechanic to replace it for me. Also if it would be easier to replace it myself. I'm not mechanically inclined but I can learn. I live in new york city if that makes any difference.

6 - 8 hundred bucks. If you are not mechanically inclined I would not suggest DIY.

  • How much does an h22 swap cost into a 1992 prelude? I have a 1992 honda preldue with a f22 non vtec engine and i belive it has a blown head gasket, and i was considering an h22 vtec swap for it, does anyone know how much would that cost? Or what other vtec engine would be good for my prelude?
  • Can a 16.L engine fit into a 1998 Honda Civic LX? (before doing engine swap)? I had an blown motor on my 1998 Honda Civic LX, I have new spark plugs, distributor cap and some other items, however, since the old spark plugs happened to be melted as well, I have no option other to do a engine swap. I've been doing some research, and it seems like I only have the 1.6L engine as a option. By the way, the blown motor is a D16Y8, and is automatic.
  • What engines can I directly swap my D16y8 Honda motor for? It has to be more powerful and easy to swap? I have a civic with a d16y8 and its served me well but what motor could I easily swap in? I want to use the same gearbox but I don't mind swaping the ECU. The easier the swap and the more HP the better. Would prefer to use the stock manifold and intake etc.
  • I'm thinking if doing a project and want to know what would be best with an engine swap? I was thinking of doing a project on a Honda civic, I have seen S2k builds and had decided that I might try to do that rather then the classic K series or B series build, sombly because of the fact I want to try and stand out. I was wondering which motor would be better, the JDM F20C, or the USDM F22C1? I had researched and the only difference I could find was displacement and torque differences. I just want to know what would respond better to mods?
