Thinking of buying a BMW 335i.any thoughts?
I'm looking to buy a 335i- I currently drive a Honda Insight, if I wanted to trade in my Honda does anyone know what steps to take? I'm assuming that I need to clean it and remove all of the exterior stickers. But should I remove the license plate once it's been appraised and I'm ready to turn it in? Do I also need to bring the title with me?
I'm also wondering once the car is purchased how does insurance work? Can I put my old plate on the new car? Does the dealership fax over the information so they can give me a temp insurance card before driving off the lot? Once I'm home how do I go about getting legit insurance rather than a temp or do I wait for the cards and new stuff to come in?
I know it's a lot of questions, I'm just wanting to know all of this before I walk in a dealership.
Also if I wanted to put new rims and tires on the BMW would I go through the dealership or some other company? Whenever I see rims on a BMW they always are BMW specific.
Any thoughts and answers would be really helpful!
The license plates have to come off it, but you don't have to do that yourself. You can ask the BMW dealer to have one of their mechanics do it for you. Since you're buying a BMW, they'll be making a lot of money off you, so they probably won't mind doing the favor.
Pulling off the stickers, etc., is again something that they could do, but it's probably best to do it yourself before you show them the car. They'll give you less for it if they think the stickers are hiding paint damage than if they see the car without the stickers and can tell the paint is intact.
You do need the title.
In some states, you can keep your old plates; in other states, you need new plates. Depends on where you live.
Just remove anything from the car that does not go with it - sunglasses, flashlights, tools… They will take care of the cleanup. When you get the new car it will have a paper temporary plate, generally good for 30-45 days, depending on the state. It is not unusual for that to be cut pretty close. Expect the license to come in (to your address) just before the temporary runs out.
Talk with your insurance agent before picking up the car. The last one we bought was covered by the dealership's insurance (same as used in test drives) for a couple days, which gave the agent time to look it over. That probably varies a lot from one place to another.
I'm in the uk.so howyou change insurance and plates etc i don't know… But the 335 is a gem. Not many motors are faster or better
Thoughts? Yes. I think that you are not ready for a car based on the questions you have asked here.
- Mini bike engine runs full throttle, I believe there's a problem with the internal governor gear, any thoughts? It's a Honda g150 engine that's been sitting in a shed for over 35 years. I took off the carb and cleaned it out, the governor arm doesn't return back to idle, it just sits on full throttle. Runs fine minus that problem. Got it started yesterday and it took off I had to bail and it kept going right into my neighbors house lol.
