Am I paying too much for Car Insurance?

I'm a 24 year old that got a speeding ticket in 2013.
I just bought a 2008 Chrysler 300 and I'm paying $900 every 6 months for Insurance.

What do you think? Good deal bad deal?

Would trading that car in for another car around the same age, like an 08 Honda Accord or Civic be cheaper or about the same?

Just wondering thanks.

I'm paying less than that for full-coverage insurance on THREE cars. Of course, I'm a bit older than you, married and haven't had a ticket in more than 10 years…

Bottom line… NOBODY pays exactly the same for car insurance. There are too many variables that go into each insurance policy. If you shop around a bit you MAY find something a bit less expensive, but when you compare prices make certain you are comparing the same coverage. It's easy to give a lowball price quote when you cut out certain coverages that you SHOULD have.

Insurance rates depend on so many factors that it is impossible to say that you're paying too much for you, your driving record, where you live, the type of car, etc. Etc. The best thing you can do is simply call several insurance companies and get rate quotes. All will be different.

Most Honda Accords cost more, does not matter the year, since it is the most popular vehicle to be stolen. The Honda Civic "might" be cheaper than your Chrysler, but, to trade in, would need to put title in the new car, then buy another, and then put title in another car, and that would cost more in excise fees/taxes.

Your speeding ticket won't go off your record till 2016, which is 3 years for any ticket/accidents. So, just sit tight, till next year, when the 3 years run, and may see a reduction in your rates.

You bought a luxury car expensive to fix, and your young.a honda would probly less than half.

  • Are me and my family paying too much for auto insurance? Our total every 6 months is $2,055. I'm 20 years old and drive a 2015 Silverado LTZ V8 crew cab truck and my mom drives a honda pilot 2015. We're paying about $343 a month on car insurance is that too high for a 20 year old and a 46 year old?
  • Paying for Honda Loaner Car From Dealership while Paint Recall is Being Fixed? I'm going to be paying $33/day for (1 to 2 weeks) for a loaner car from my honda dealership while its away in the shop. Is there any flexibility in picking what car I want or do they automatically assign me a car. I feel like since i'm paying i should be able to pick what car I want, or even pay a little more for something nicer?
  • Motorbike insurance at £2000 - too high? I just bought a Honda CG 2002 124cc bike. I have a CBT. I have no NCB and have not driven a car or bike before (but have had a provisional license for 5 years). I live in London. The bike will be kept in a driveway and used for commuting to work. Given all of this, the lowest insurance quote I'm getting is £1780 p/a on any of the major comparison websites. This seems very high or is it about right?
  • Car insurance compared to small truck insurance? I have a Honda Fit right now, but am interested in buying a new small four-wheel drive truck. How do insurance rates generally compare (in Ontario) between a subcompact car and a small truck?
