Buying a salvage title Honda Accord?

Is it safe to buy a salvage title 2007 Honda Accord 114,000 miles for $4,600? Is the price too high or should i ask the seller to go down a bit if so to how much?

I wouldn't even consider a salvaged vehicle… Especially after all the hurricane floods in Texas and Florida! You're going to get ripped off!

There are probably a million cars out there right now that were totslled by the insurers due to floods in Texas and Florida du to the recent hurricanes. They were sold at auction fo salvage to be broken up for parts or crushed. However there unscrupulous people who will buy them, dry them make them smell good and get them running, wash the titleas "Salvaged" and sell them at what appears to be a good price. I wouldn't touch a salvage title with a telephone pole. In Houston the sewers backed up and all of those cars have fecal coliform bacteria hiding under the carpets and behind the door panels as well as salt water corrosion behind the dash which will lead to unending electrical system problems down the road. The Florida cars aren't any better. Additionally many insurance companies won't touch it if it has a salvage title as that means the car was insured out already. There's no such thing as a GOOD deal on a car with a salvage title.

Collision damage can be repaired. Flood damage can't. The price is pretty good for a car with a clean title. Should be about 1/2 of that when it has a salvage title. Even if the car is repaired perfectly, someday you are going to want to sell it and nobody will trust it enough to pay you anything.

No, it is worthless and will be hard to insure.

Don't know. IS IT?
Nobody here can tell you whether this car is safe or reliable. YOU have to figure that out on your own. THAT is why it's always best to have the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic who you know and trust BEFORE you agree to buy it.

Right now there are over a million flood cars on the market all over the US. I bet that is one. Don't even think about it.

Just make sure to check over the car before you get it, to see what kind of damage there it has. For example: water damage cars might be a little tricky due to the electronics. In addition, remember that most car dealerships won't want to touch that car for that reason.

How much is it for an unsalvaged Honda Accord. Check the private sales in the classified section of the local newspaper. Then you know what they are asking. If you have more than one car, all the better.
- A salvage title car is worth half of a undamaged car(salvage means it was classified as written off so it is up to you if the car is worth a cent.)
Do a Kelly Blue Book search on the appraised value of that car.(this number is not for a salvage vehicle) it is for a good undamaged vehicle.
Now half that if not 1/4 that and that is the value of the salvage car(it could be worth less than that) You are gambling with fire and you are naked. So you could get burned real bad. Especially if you are planning to flip it and make some money(there's a good chance you won't) It is your gamble.

No

Don't think about it.

  • Value of 2002 Honda S2000 - Rebuilt title? How much do you all think a 2002 S2000 with 49000 miles on it and a rebuilt title should sell for? Besides the rebuilt part, it is in excellent shape.
  • Lost title for dirt bike? I have a Honda dirt bike my grandmother helped me buy. We purchased it in 2004 and I was not 18 yet so it was most likely in her name although it was my job to help pay for it. She has since passed and the title information is not to be found. I have interest in selling the bike but I'm wondering how to do so. I'm wondering if I can sell it with a bill of sale and be OK or how I need to go about it?
