Car making weird windshield wiper sound when AC is on?
I'm writing for my sister, we were at the bank idling and her AC was on (2007 Honda Accord) and suddenly we hear this weird sound that I can only describe as what sounded like a windshield wiper when it scrapes across a DRY windshield. It happened about once every 30-120 seconds. Sometimes loud, other times not so loud. We turned off the AC and it stopped. We heard it 5 times in a 10 minute car ride. Her boyfriend said it sounded like a barring? He's not experienced with cars though, to me it didn't sound horrible like a belt was out or something was busted… Any ideas? The car had 40,000 miles on it. If you know what this is, is it safe to use the AC until she gets it fixed?
Compressor or belt may slip
Prolly a loose or aging AC belt, no biggie.
Sounds like a belt needs to be tighten.
Go let a mechanic listen. That's free and he will tell you what's what in two minutes. If you ask, he will also give you a free written estimate for parts and labor on the fix. Some weird noises with ACs are from the 'mouth' of the compressor. I've heard them sound like a bad tuba player. If that's it, no fix required but you live with the strange noise.
- My Car is having a weird sound occurring? Recently i been having a weird cranking dry sound occur, when i either turn right/left on the right front tire side, i was thinking it can be the axle since it is a front wheel drive car, i own a Honda Civic LX 1993 am transmission. Previous owners have tried to solve the problem, as you can see no luck. Any suggestions or assumptions that can be the problem solution or the component making this happen, can it be suspension or the chassis defect from the manufacturer?
- Honda Civic making weird noise while turning after running over a curb? I have a 2010 honda civic and I ran over a curb the other night and it made a pretty bad sound but nothing was hanging and it drove just fine. But now, 3 days later, its making a weird noise when I turn. Wondering what it could be?
- Honda civic 2006 weird alarm sound? So my car was on and I was just sitting in the drivers seat on my phone, and all a sudden I hear a loud alarm. It sounded exactly like a smoke detector alarm and I was shocked. I didn't think it was me, so I turned my car off and the noise stopped. What does this mean? I'm paranoid it'll happen again.
- Car is making a really soft hallow whistling sound, but only when idling Is this something that requires immediate attention? There's no performance issues but I'm wondering if it can snow ball into something worst. It's a 2004 honda civic 180, xxx miles
