Car is making a really soft hallow whistling sound, but only when idling
Is this something that requires immediate attention? There's no performance issues but I'm wondering if it can snow ball into something worst. It's a 2004 honda civic 180, xxx miles
Try to determine where the sound is coming from. There's a vacuum system in your car, which uses suction to operate certain features. If there's a leak in that system, I suppose you could hear something like that. I have heard 'whistling' come out of the heater/vent system before.
Could be a vacuum leak.
Not totally sure but, it sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Vacuum leak from head pipe to brake servo. Easy one that.
It may be bad drive belt pulley bearings or a vacuum leak.
- Weird whistling noise coming from my ATV engine? So i have a honda 250ex, and today whenever i would give it gas, i would here a strange whistling noise coming from the cylinder block in the engine. When in neutral the sound was not heard. - Why is my 1996 Honda Accord overheating only while I'm idling? I checked and both fans come on to cool the engine. Also when I checked the anti freeze, The reserve was filled to max but when I checked under the cap there was absolutely nothing in there. After checking online I just realized I should have been filling the antifreeze from where the cap is and not the reserve. So should I try and put my anti freeze in under the cap? Or would a coolant flush be more helpful? Or is it a water pump problem?
- My car was really hard to put in gear and when it worked their is a squealing sound when i press the clutch? It drives and shifts fine but has this squealing when i press in the clutch. When it gets past 1500rpm the squeak stops until it drops back to 1000rpm or to 500rpm. Is the transmission shot or bad clutch? Also was some smoke rising from the engine and is a smell i'm guessing the clutch plates are constantly slipping or they are not retracting correctly when the clutch is pressed. 1994 honda accord ex my problem car.
