Car won't start and the battery is fine?
2005 honda accord ex-l. New battery was placed 1 year ago. Multimeter says it has a charge of 12.85v. The terminals were also recently replaced. My alternator was placed 1 year ago. Today I installed a new water pump and the car was running normal. I took the alternator out to test it and after placing it back and installing the serpentine belt, my car had no power. My lights won't turn on and it won't make a sound when turning the ignition. There's no crank and zero dash lightd. All the wires seem to be fine and in place. I tried jump starting and still nothing. My battery still reads 12.85v. The terminals are on tightly and the area is clean. What else can this be?
Find the fusible link and check it. They can blow out just like any fuse, but they will leave the whole car powerless. It looks like a short wire with plugs on the ends and close to the main battery cables.
Your car is a worthless piece of trash, that is why.
Not sure why you would take a 1 year old alternator out to test it? Auto parts stores can test an alternator for free while it is in the car.
And if you had no power or clicking, or other electrical at all, and the battery had was showing power, why would you try a jump start? I mean OK, I guess it can't hurt, but that most likely is not the problem. Not being critical, but you asked the question so I have to give my answer.
Double check the connections, did they get reversed?
Do your hazard lights work, those are direct wired so the ignition does not need to be on, that shows you some power is getting into the system.
Check the under hood fuses. There's usually a big fuse where the battery terminals connect.
Check the ground wire on the alternator, remove and clean area where it attaches. Wire bush off any rust or debris.
Use your multi meter at each step.
Check other fuses. Check wiring under dash. Do you have any aftermarket alarms or dealer installed remote kill switches. They could have been installed before you got the car.
You may have disturbed a wiring harness connection. Inspect those. Or some wiring is bad and finally shorted out.
Maybe ignition switch is bad. Tap on steering column with your hand, then try to it.
Other than that you may need a Honda tech to look at it.
Check all of the fusible links in the engine compartment fuse box You may have shorted something and the one that protects the electrical system could be blown. The fusible links are the larger fuses.
Why you even taking the alternator out of the vehicle to test it. All you need to do is drive to an auto parts store and they can test it in the car for free!

- I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
- Car ran fine then wouldn't start, got a jump, now everything is fine again. What happened? '03 Honda Civic. Last 30 mins of work I sat in my car with the A/C on full blast and radio on, like I do everyday (and of course the car is running). I stopped at Subway after work. The car was parked for 10 mins. After the car would not start but the radio and dash board lights would come on, but it would not crank. Got a jump from AAA. Afterwards Auto Zone tested the battery and alternator, both passed. I has been a week now and no problems. What the heck could have happened?
