First time buying a car
I need some advice, I already own one car that was handed down to me and its a 2000 Honda Accord Ex v6 coupe. It has roughly 210,000 miles on it. And recently the transmission has been going out. So i'm stuck with a issue because its well known that transmission work is expensive and with this car being this old there's bound to be other problems coming up soon. So I was trying to find another used car, I had the idea to trade in this Honda accord for around 1,000 and 500 from my own pocket. And the car I was looking at was a 2005 Honda Civic for 7,000. Unfortunately i was turned down for financing because I don't make enough money (monthly). I was told id have to make at least 1,300 a month to be qualified, and me being a part time employee at dollar general and a full time college student that is pretty much impossible. She did say i could get a co-signer to help, but i don't have any luck there and I would need at least 4,000 of my own money for a down payment to be able to get the Honda civic and be financed by the individual dealer instead of the bank. But I don't know what to do. I know there's dealerships that ignore credit, or at least accept any credit score. But what about people who simply don't make that much? Is there anywhere I could go to get a used car and get financed without them simply looking at my monthly salary?
There's no guarantee that the new/used car will be any better than your current Honda and you will be in debt for $7-9K after tax and lic.
Pay cash or do not buy. You'll live to be happier, wealthier and wiser.
You do not make enough money to buy another car. Fix the one you have and keep driving it.
- Which car is best for first time buyer? At the end of the month I will be getting my very own car and I've had a hard time deciding on what I really want between the two. •Jeep Wrangler (Sahara) Or •Honda Passport I know a Honda is good on MPG but when I test drove it, it was too big and when I test drove the wrangler I felt comfortable (always wanted one in HS) Comment what you think may be the best/worst out of the two, maybe some advice.
- Buying my first car and want to choose the right car I need something with a lot of room and thats safe? I've been looking at the honda crv, kia sorento, chevy traverse/equinox, acura mdx/rdx, nissan maxima and buick enclave. I really want something thats going to last atleast (6-8) years without having to replace the transmission or engine I want something very reliable and i'm willing to pay more for something that will last than having to replace major parts in a short time thanks for your help!
- Taking my car into the shop for the first time (my first car and first time at a shop)? Recently acquired a 1999 Honda Accord for $1500 with only 160k. Runs great but my dad checked car and said oil is low and then proceeded to check the rest of the car and said all my fluids need to be replaced. What does that mean and what is the price for fixing this? I want to go to the shop with some sort of understanding of the prices so I know if I'm being ripped off or not.
