First time driving 5 hours alone, advice please?
I'm 18 years old driving from Fayetteville, NC to Atlanta, GA. I have a 2005 Honda Accord that works great (literally only needed to get air in my tires then it maintenanced once before). The drive is 5 1/2 hours. I have a GPS along with AAA but I still can't help but worry because I've never drove this far alone. The most I do is drive around the city to be honest.
Any advice?
PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD the last thing you want is to get in a crash and don't look at your phone put it in the backseat or something. If you get tired you should stop for a little rest you don't want to fall asleep while your driving but 5 1/2 hours isn't that long so you probably won't have to stop.
Stop for gas at well lit gas stations. Take a break after a couple of hours, stop and get a cup of coffee or a coke. Don't talk to strangers. If they're hanging out at a gas station or restaurant on I95, they're up to no good.
If youre worried about it, take someone with you or take a bus or train
Take any breaks if you need to along the way.
Seeing that "Trixiebelle" is playing the fool, the others have some good thoughts for you to consider.
I might add to this that you should go to one of those oil change places, or if you have a good relationship with an auto repair shop, make an appointment with them BEFORE your trip and have your car giving a "once over" of all it's vital systems… Fluids, tires, brakes, transmission, cooling, steering, lights, etc. A good mechanic will know exactly what to check, give quick fixes to that which can be fixed quickly, and recommend any repairs that are needed. He/she will also tell you if he/she thinks your vehicle is not up to a long-distance trip. This is for your own safety AND the safety of everyone else on the roads that you will "share" with.
Have a polite day.
Etiquette takes over where laws end.
Just returned from the trip to Italy through Europe by car. 5 hours drive non stop is Way too long - your but will start hurting. Check your car before trip and watch the map - maybe the road goes through some small, attractive towns. So you take at least 2 30 min breaks - stop at some small town, walk a little and have a cup of coffee. It will make your trip longer but it will eb more enjoyable and you won't get that tired

- Planning to get a turbo kit for my 2002 honda civic ex with 140k on it i go for it or leave it alone? Is a 1250 dollar turbo kit from ebay. My friend is a mechanic so he would help me for cheap but is it really worth it? I already upgraded the exhaust and got a cold air intake. Also what other upgrades would i have to do if i go for it?
