For mechanics that work on Honda's, I need help figuring out what's wrong with my car?
Me and my dad recently bought a new engine for my 03' Accord and we installed the new engine and the car starts up but after a couple minutes of letting it run the engine will start revving and we can't figure out why. Also the shifter is showing the cars transmission is stuck in drive and has a flashing green light. Any automotive mechanics or technicians know why this is happening and how can I fix it.
Temp and cold star sensor issue for one, you needto run a diagnostic
If you didn't put the exact same year and size motor in the car the PCM and wiring harness may not be working for the replacement motor. Have the vehicle scanned for transmission codes. OBD II code readers will not work for tranny codes.
If you don't know what you're doing, STOP DOING IT! Haul the car to a REAL mechanic and pay to have it put right before you damage something Really expensive!
You will need anew transmission, since that's a chronic problem with Hondas of that vintage. For the revving problem, do an OBD2 code check. You put something back wrong or broke something. OBD will point out what.

- Help me figure out why my car is smoking so much? I have a 99 honda civic 4 cylinder maunel and my exhaust keeps smoking a lot. I changed my head gasket, did a tune up and oil change and it still smokes just a little less smoke but it smokes. Someone told me it could be the oil rings but i just need more help on this.
